Stay if you really have to but OK at best
This is a bog standard hotel, but with a lot of noise in whatever room you choose. On the front side, you get the noise form car park, where taxis and cars come at all hours. On the back side, it is a cobbled street so the slightest car movement and you can forget sleeping. It is clean, confortable beds, and 100 Euros for a room. Breakfast is standard hotel fair but coffee is dreadful, sorry folks.
Bring your own soap
I stayed before at the Tower Hotel and had no complaints - this time it was a difference like day and night. I was accommodated across the yard/car park and had to climb up iron stairs with heavy luggage as no lift/no porter. The hotels website describes itself as being focused on luxury and enjoyment .....My room was dull, dark and boring. Not even a writing desk to work from. Curtains/windows to be closed at all times as facing a guest passage/smoking area. When requesting for a rooms change the reply one of indifference like on arrival - unwelcoming bordering on arrogance. When I noted that my otherwise ok bathroom had no soap I had to climb again down the iron stairs only to be told by the receptionist that ‘’ The Housekeeper was told by the Manager that they are no longer allowed to buy soap ‘’ and that I could use the body wash from little plastic tubes. This is the first time when staying at a hotel that I had to go shopping to buy some soap. This environmentally not so friendly hotel provides as so-called 4 star hotel toothbrush glasses made from plastic wrapped in plastic. Breakfast is only until 09am - another first for me - and do not expect to be greeted . This is the NO smiles hotel and do not bother to ask for a later than1100 am check out which is met by a near hostile reply ‘ 30 Euros for 2 hours’ After sitting 4 hours in a not very comfortable lobby the receptionist could not even be bothered and lift his eyes from this computer screen to say good-by to my fellow travellers . As a well seasoned seasoned widely travelled Hotelier this is about THE worst experience as far as hospitality is concerned
Good, clean hotel, but staff attitude at reception needs a lot of work, non caring and not attentive to guests requests and needs. Not friendly, no eye contact with guests, mor interested in computer than the guest. Some serious attitude adjustment training needed.
Good hotel with below avarage breakfast
This is a nicely located in city center modern hotel. Rooms are quiet, comfortable with good bathroom (nice water preassure, new towels, quality toiletries). Smiling, helpful and efficient reception. The only downside was for me breakfast - although in a nice rooftop breakfast room with view over the town - the choice was very limited and the only few vegetables were in a fridge so practically uneatable as well as the other items from the fridge (butter !). So next time I would take no breakfast and eat somwhere else but sleeping conditions very ok.
Transferred to this hotel
I originally booked with another hotel and have done so, for the last 4 years. After booking the original hotel initially, they advised us some 4 months later that we were being transferred to the Tower Hotel, along with another 40 or so guests. We arrived and the parking was a little overcrowded!! The manager and staff had, had this booking dumped on them by the said other hotel, a littel stressed and confusing for everyone at the arrival. Once all settled down and parking was organised in the best way possible, all was good. The hotel and staff were excellent once the issues had been sorted. The hotel itself is very nice, the rooms are clean and comfortable. I would stay here again for definate, just need to organise the parking. But thanks for accomodating us and being friendly.
