Rodakas Hotel is located outside of Athens in a quiet area. Transportation can be arranged by the hotel shuttle, however it is also easy to take the bus (which stops across the street from Rodakas) into Athens. The staff is very helpful, and the breakfast buffet is nicely done. The pool area is also very pleasant and has a bar where food can be ordered, even for dinner. I highly recommend this hotel.
Loved our stay here
We stayed for a couple of nights during our Greek roadtrip. Easy enough to get up from the port and to the centre and then get the right bus to the hotel. All the buses centre around Fira so if you can get there you can get anywhere. Great location if you want to be out of the centre. Nice walk down to the red beach, it does get a bit rocky near the beach but easily done in trainers. There is a shop close by but we didn't actually head into Akrotiri for food as we were happy enough with the hotel food even though it was a bit pricy. Lovely to just chill out by the pool for a bit after a few long days elsewhere. Not many people around at all. We did the Fira to Oia walk on one of the days too but it did get hot near the end as we started a bit later than we would have liked due to limited busses. Breakfast was fine for myself and my veggie boyfriend. They are a bit strict with not allowing food in the rooms but it isn't set up for self catering. Getting to the ferry was a bit stress on the last day. We didn't have enough time to go all the way into Fira and switch busses so got off at the top of the decent down as we were assured a bus would be along and stop. We were waiting quite a while and its not something you could walk especially with cases! Luckily a local offered to take us so we took him up on his offer. When we did eventually see the bus come down it looked very full so unsure if we would actually have fit on it! Would love to come back but maybe stay in a different location but if the price was right I would happily stay here again
First the good: lovely pool, room very clean. Close to town, excellent restaurants and Akrotiri Ruins. If you feel really brave, rent a car and check out the sunset at the lighthouse, it is lovely. Probably the hardest bed I have slept on outside of Cuba, horribly uncomfortable. The breakfast was unpalatable, runny raw eggs, we were sick for several days after eating a small amount of it. All kinds of rules, no food of drink consumed in room that was not purchased at hotel, no doing laundry in your room, etc. AC didn't work and it was very hot in the room. It looks close to the beach but it is a very long walk and the closest beach is not swimable. Red Beach can be reached after a perilous hike where several people have died. Very little parking, if you rent a car you may have to leave it down the street at a public viewpoint. I would not stay here again.
I would never recommend staying here to my worst enemy. The hotel itself of nice with a lovely pool, however the staff is unbelievably strict with their rules (ie. you cannot have food in your room even that was purchased somewhere else, along with many other rules) and the pool closes very very early. The breakfast is some of the most horrible food I’ve tasted in my life and they expect you to only eat from there if you want to have food at your hotel.
Great Boutique hotel and very family friendly
Great getaway hotel, very cosy and family driven. The pool is great and it’s outside the nightlife , hence ideal for families. The staff is super thoughtful and very detail driven. Every tip that was given was really to the point and made our days even more special. Strong recommendation
