Comfortable rooms, nice restaurant

Called on a cycling holiday - comfortable rooms and lovely people running place. We eat in the restaurant in the evening and the food and staff were both excellent. Overall nice place to stop along the Rhine.

This Country Inn is clean, family oriented boasting a very beautiful and peaceful countryside. Breakfast was included during our stay and very accommodating with food preferences. Feels like Home. Price very affordable.

A comfortable country inn on the Southern tip of the Black Forest

The Hotel Hirschen is a country Inn with 15 rooms. It lies next to the church of Birndorf, about 15 kilometers from Waldshut and the Swiss border. The situation is calm. Birndorf is in the autumn and winter often situated above the fog line. The rooms are beautifully renovated, modern with its wooden style giving a homely character. The double bed is made up of two single mattresses. The sleep comfort is good. The room and the bathroom both were spotless clean. According to our taste, the room could have been slightly better heated. Internet worked perfectly. The breakfast is rich with many local products. Egg dishes are prepared on demand. The restaurant is known for home-style cuisine. The food is freshly prepared and no microwaving. The specialty of the house are the homemade deer sausages. The menu offers a fair choice, but like in my review that I have made 4 years ago, unfortunately for those who are not meat lovers, a fish dish such as the local specialty which is the Black Forest trout, is missing. The staff is extremely attentive and friendly. The Landgasthof Hirschen is a good address on the Southern tip of the Black Forest where to Gastfreundschaft and Gemütlichkeit.

There was a lovely atmosphere in this old family run hotel. We were greeted with enthusiasm and shown to a comfortable room. The food in the restaurant was very nice and reasonably priced. Another “find” for my list of hotels that I will visit again.

We have been very impressed with this jewel of a find on the Germen-Swiss boarder! We originally wanted to stay in Shaffausen in Switzerland, but decided to look elsewhere as the prices were too expensive. So here we found a spotlessly clean Hotel with the nicest owners and Staff! They offer a good size room with all the amenities, a balcony with a great view of the valley, a bottle of water complimentary, which is rare, as we have been here in Europe for 10 days and this is only the second place that has been so kind in doing this. We enjoyed an amazing dinner at a very reasonable price! In our opinion the meal was the best we've had since we've been in Europe. Bravo,,,,, Take my advise as owner of Destination Spa Bed and Breakfast, Salmon Arm B.C. Canada that this place is also "one of the best"!
