Overpriced and tired

While the hotel has a great location on the sea front, the room (a double seaview room) was very expensive and disappointingly tired and tatty. The wallpaper was peeling away, bed uncomfortable, no pressure in the shower and the windows didn't seem like they'd been cleaned in a long time. At over £200 a night extremely poor value for the money.

Lunch! The unexpected star of the holiday!

Popped in for lunch as saw that they were offering Soup and a Sandwich for £8. The hotel looks a bit tired from the outside and the restaurant was obviously empty but we persevered. Boy are we glad we did! You walk through the door to an immaculately decorated, modern dining space. We were greeted warmly and sat in one of the window seats with a fabulous view of the fishing boats and the sea. The soup, carrot and cumin was lovely and the sandwiches equally so. Our waiter was very professional throughout and we decided to have the 'desert of the day' which was chocolate brownie with chocolate ice cream. Again lovely. We spent a happy hour watching the world go by with a marvelous sea view and won't hesitate to go again when next in the area.

We stayed two nights in a room overlooking the sea and found the room more than adequate, comfortable, clean and on the whole quiet. On arrival we were greeted warmly at reception and all staff were friendly. Breakfast is served at the table and was more than adequate. We did not use the dining facilities as we preferred to eat out, but they were busy each evening and did look inviting. Our first dawn was spent on Aldeburgh beach a few yards away, as is the magnificent Tudor Moot Hall. A very nice stay and if we return we would think of staying no where else but The White Lion. Do note however that parking is limited and we found spaces nearby taken up by visitors to the town and would guess this could be a real problem during peak times.

Good view but the room was not as advertised online and disappointing- the bathroom was particularly shabby and grotty. It does not reflect the pricing. The door was filled and the paint was yellow. Definitely not like the online images.

Went here for a weekend away with the husband and had a really lovely relaxing break. We had a room with internal views which was very nice. I was actually glad we opted for an internal room as it looked like quite a few local young’uns hang around the sea front directly opposite the hotel until late and they weren’t that quiet! The hotel is lovely downstairs and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was extremely good with lots of choice and good portions. The only reason for the 4 stars is because the bathroom was a bit cold and austere and the tap water wasn’t suitable for drinking which meant we weren’t comfortable using it for tea and coffee. The bedroom was also a little chilly at times and turning up the radiator didn’t help that much but it was a very cold weekend so not surprising. The room was very clean and everything we needed was there. The room was lovely and clean, quite and comfortable.
