Needs refurbishing
The rooms and hallways need to be renovated. We were told we could have adjoining rooms when we made the reservation but they had to give us rooms across the hall from each other. In one of the rooms there were kids jumping on the floor until late at night.
Very clean
This property is very clean and it shows the effort to stay sanitary, even though it is either an old property or was not previously taken care of. The GM Anthony was very helpful and the evening guy, Courtney I was told his name was, was the Very idea of hamptonality! He was helpful and although it was obvious he was new to the job, he was willing to go above and beyond to be kind and helpful. The only issue I had was, there is no coffee. None made in the mornings and not even coffee makers in the rooms as supplement. Tuesday right before check out I heard someone inform the lady of a dead cat outside on the sidewalk. And when I took some items to my car 2 hours later, it was still there. I was a tad disappointed in this as I seen a whole lot of staff that prob could have at least moved it to a less obvious place. Or something. It was sad and gross and it made my child cry because I shielded her the first time. When we left it was unavoidable.
So so
Being a Hilton Honors Diamond member we like to stay at the Hilton properties. While the staff were friendly and the rooms were very clean, we found the property to be needing an update. Missing were extra electrical plugs around the bed for CPAP machines as well as USB ports for charging phones and other devices. (Had to unplug the clock or light fixture to run CPAP. Also no breakfast of any type was provided. (The TRU down the road in Amarillo (return trip) at least had breakfast.). Also the beds seemed to be hard compared to other Hilton properties.
Possible COVID Exposure
We put off a big vacation due to COVID. We decided to finally take one after my husband has been isolated working from home since March. We were very selective on where we went, where we stayed, activities, cleanliness, masks, etc. Then we get here. My husband goes down to get breakfast and all they had were paper bag breakfasts. Front desk agent didn’t advise at check-in that they have staff out due to COVID and food options had changed. My husband was told by a man from another dept that was covering the front desk when he went down. None of the front office staff were actually there for AM shift. The housekeeper on the floor knocked on our door with no mask. As I passed her on our way out in the hallway I asked her where her mask was. Her reply, “Somewhere in the cart.” I told her she needed to have it on and was saying something. Housekeepers are cleaning rooms without masks folks! African American girl, about 5’6”, thin, 20’s. Also, we are Diamond members and it wasn’t acknowledged at check-in. We had two rooms - 202 & 213. 202 has mildew along the tub, and the wet bar sink is completely coated with calcium deposits. I’ve worked in upscale Hilton’s and was laid off due to COVID. We are also HGV members. I’m not normally one to openly write a bad review, but, this is COVID we are talking about! We did speak with Chris that was covering the front desk. He was wearing a mask. He showed a great deal of concern and was stating he was going to go take care of it immediately. We are appreciative for his action and listening to us. We expect to hear back from the GM.
Perfect Stay!!!
After 14 hours of travel and a horrible experience at a hotel in Barstow, this place was PERFECT! I love Hampton/Hilton hotels. It was super clean which is so important during covid times. The bed and pillows were perfect. The air conditioner didn't whine, which was perfect. The take out breakfast near kitchen was actually pretty good (Chobani yogurt, peeled hard boiled egg, bagel and cream cheese and fruit) and the price for our dog was perfect ($30 unlike Drury's $50 charge) They ran out of soap so left us some extra bath gel. My only complaint would be staff. When they were there they are respectful but they weren't always there and there is no bell, so it made it difficult to ask a question or get help. I'd stay here again.
