would definitely recommend. perfect customer care.Excellent rooms. Nice mountain view from the balcony. breakfast-swimming pool very nice. homemade dinner! But above all the hospitality from such warm and genuine persons.
Would recommend this hotel we had a double room which was excellent full facilities. Good variety for breakfast lovely home made food. Only thing was you had to be brave to plunge into the pool!!!😂 excellent signed walking routes and good bus links.
Situated at the traditional village of Tholaria, it offers a great service (reception-breakfast area - restaurant - pool bar - laundry) and full comfort in the newly renovated rooms. Try the excursions hotel is offering (guided walking tours & private half-day land tour by minivan and don't omit to try the doney ride!)
My wife and I just stayed at Vigla Hotel and it wasn't long enough. First, the hotel itself is beautiful. The dining area, the pool, the lobby, the grounds - all immaculate, quaint, pretty, just beautiful. Our room was fantastic - large bathroom, sitting area, comfortable bed, two balconies, lovely view. And a walk-in closet! My wife said this was the nicest room we've ever had in all of our travels, better than the five star hotels on Santorini we've stayed. Housekeeping in perfect, the room is spotless. The family that operates Vigla Hotel are wonderful; they make you feel welcome and the service is amazing. We took a whole day excursion around the island with Adonis, the son-in-law, and a a great time. Adonis was informative, friendly and funny. It was like having a good friend show us around the island. We ate at the restaurant at Vigla twice, food was excellent. Greek home cooking! We had moussaka, pork chop, souvlaki and stuffed chicken, all excellent. The breakfast buffet every morning is ample and fresh. Thank you everyone at Vigla for such a wonderful and relaxing stay.
Great choice for Amorgos
The Hotel Vigla met our needs for our 5 day stay, and exceeded our expectations, for several reasons. First, we wanted to be near Aegiali as we came in on the Blue Star ferry from Astypalea, wanted to take a day trip to Donoussa and we departed from Amorgos to Koufonissi. Tholaria, being a mear 5 minute drive from Aegiali, met our needs in that respect. Second, we liked the prospect of being able to hike in the Tholaria/Langada area, and that was wonderful. Third, we wanted to be in a village that was authentic but had enough going on that we wouldn't get bored. Finally, Thoralia had the Hotel Vigla looked like a comfortable hotel, and it was. With respect to Vigla: 1) This is a well run place. Everyone is on the ball. (Marta and Despina in particular). Transfers from the port were efficient, the greeting when we arrived was welcoming and informative as to all of the options that Amorgos offers. 2) Our room was very comfortable - nice big bed, good sized, modern bathroom and pleasant outdoor seating area. 3) They customized a tour for us that included the magnificent Hozoviotissa monastery, Mourou Beach and lunch in Hora. Our guide, Adonis, was awesome. 4) Finally, the pool is magnificent. I hiked up the steep path from Aegiali three times and couldn't wait to rinse off in the shower, jump in the pool and then savor an Alpha beer at the pool bar each time. I really liked that we could do all of this without renting a car. We had to depend on the hotel for a few pick ups in Aegaili as my wife couldn't hike up the path to the hotel, but they were wonderful about accommodating us (for a fee - which they deserved). You can't depend on taxis in Aegiali - I called several times the number plasered all over Aegiali for a taxi and the dispatcher yelled at me - "All my taxis are in Katapola!" Sorry for that. The breakfast buffet was bountiful and on the two mornings we were out too early to enjoy it we were given a "to go" bag the night before. There are plenty of good, simple dining options in Thoralia. We found one that we went to twice where the family owners invited us into the kitchen to see what was cooking - moussaka, pasta, lamb, fish, etc. so we could pick what we wanted. It was so charming.
