Fell Short of Our Expectations

Avaliou em 24 de outubro de 2021

We stayed October 17 and 18 and it was COLD and extremely windy. Even with extra blankets the kids in their adjacent tent were miserably cold the first night. They have some propane heaters, but not enough for everyone and we didn't get any. The second night we moved the kids to cots inside our bigger tent and woke every 2 hours to stoke the fire. They were warm but we were exhausted. Also extremely disappointing was that they were out of hot chocolate the first 24 hours of our stay. That first evening my kids did not have a warm beverage option (they don't want tea or coffee!). In the morning they had hot cider. Maybe they could have put that out the evening prior, or someone could have run to Safeway to get some hot cocoa, considering it was so cold. Paid over $500 a night and we were cold the entire time. We have stayed at Under Canvas before at Mt. Rushmore in June. That stay was the highlight of our trip. I think in the cold months the value declines considerably.

Cool Experience

My partner and I had a memorable experience at Under Canvas - Grand Canyon. We had dinner at the main tent restaurant and the food options were healthy and they had vegan options. It was so nice listening to the live music in the tent while eating dinner and they even had board games for entertainment. No wifi, so that you have that authentic camping experience. It was a little cold for us to sit by the firepits after dinner, but they had complimentary smores. Free drip coffee and tea throughout the stay to keep us warm! Our fire went out at 2am in 20 degree weather. Be prepared to feed the fire every 1.5-2 hours if you want a toasty tent! We were struggling with our fire and didn't have a starter, but one of the staff came by our tent at 2:30am and started it for us. Great service! It was cool to hear the coyotes at night howling at the moon and the bedding was very warm. The breakfast options were my favorite meal and I also did a complimentary morning yoga class. I would definitely stay again, now that I know what to expect. We didn't have a private bath, but we would get one next time.

Will definitely do this again!

This was such a wonderful and memorable experience. First time glamping so ended up bringing way more than was needed. They had everything taken care of. Tent, food, and activities were great and the staff was so friendly and accommodating. The only thing that prevented me from giving 5 stars was the wood burning stove in the tent. These should probably be cleaned and inspected after each guest. Our first night smoke leaked out of the chimney and filled the tent but someone promptly came out at 3am to fix it. I’m looking forward to trying their other locations!

First, great guest service experience. They went above and beyond in making sure we enjoyed our stay and were comfortable. Second, they even surprise decorated for our honeymoon in the tent ! We walked in to fresh flowers and a great sign that said “just married”. The food was great and the atmosphere they created with the activities and live music made it a wonderful time !

Fantastic service and fun experience

Stayed for two nights and first time glamping - it was quite the experience. We were greeting by super friendly staff, who gave us tour of the main tent and showed us how everything worked, then got escorted in golf cart with our luggage to the tent. The tent was beautiful, clean and lots of space. The s'mores kits and live music by the fire pits was nice. We had issues getting the stove started, but with a quick call, someone was there in minutes to help out. Shower had lots of hot water (sink is cold only). Bed was super comfy with lots of layers to cuddle up in. Note that you do hear all the people around you; but we treated it as free entertainment - lol. I do recommend bringing a small flashlight, as the lanterns they give you are great for the cabin but hard to see on dark trails. Giving four stars instead of five because of the food - ordered breakfast, and it was non-edible, cold and disgusting. But other than that, it was a fun experience and great place to stay if headed to the Grand Canyon.
