Shocking experience for our wedding!
Last year me and my partner had our wedding reception and were absolutely shocked at how shocking bad the Hilton were. We fell in love with the venue and that was about the only thing I can say that made us go through with our day at the Hilton. On more than 10 occasions were mine and my partners name mistaken by the staff helping us to plan our big day. We had it mistake by Katie, Amy, and at least 3 other staff members even though we’d corrected them on every occasion we even ended up coming close to changing the venue as we were so worried if they couldn’t figure out how to spell two simple names what else they may mess up on the actual day. We had our menu tasting and even though I reminded them 4 separate times we wanted the pork belly served with dauphinoise on the day of the trial they got it wrong. Okay no issue as long as they got it right on the day! We were passed around between different wedding planners as they kept messing things up. We were forgotten at one point as when I contacted them they didn’t know who we were and admitted our original planner Katie(who was absolutely awful) hasn’t passed our file onto whoever was taking over her role. There was so many small details we had to remind them of over and over again throughout the planning process. When you book a wedding they save a set amount of rooms for your guests to stay overnight. Great idea and so easy to do simply give your guests a unique code and they can book the room at a discounted rate. So we printed out our invitations with the code on it explaining to our guests just quote the code when booking the room. I received numerous phone calls from friends and family all saying things like (the code didn’t work, the rooms had run out and even my aunt being told when she rang up and booked the lady on reception had our details down as me marrying another woman) how embarrassing can it get. Anybody who’s planned a wedding would know silly little mistakes like that are not only embarassing but they are awfully stressful at a time when you could do without any added stress. Okay so to the worst parts of this experience. Having made it clear to the numerous idiots we were given to plan our actual day on arrival we wanted all our guests to go straight to the bar as myself and my wife had planned to have pictures with certain guests. Except on the actual day they sent them all to the opposite place. Imagine the awkwardness of having to tell some family members and friends we didn’t want them in these photos. Luckily our best men took control and did the hotels job for them and after all the confusion of who should be where we finally had the situation under control. Although very very embarrassed to have to tell people things like this on your own wedding day. Okay finally to the worst part!!!!! At the end of the night having had an amazing night and day luckily as we have amazing friends and family and virtually nothing could spoil such a special day. Me and my wife decided to have a cigarette outside the front with my two best men before going to our rooms and continuing our special night together. We came back inside only to find the bridal bouquet which had been placed on a table just inside the hotel had actually disappeared. Having thought maybe one of our guests had taken them and put them somewhere safe so we asked to see the cctv. On viewing the cctv it turned out they had been stolen by another guest from another wedding at the hotel and it was clear as day in the cctv. At this point my wife was in tears so we decided to try and find this person we went upstairs and found the bouquet had been torn apart into hundreds of pieces and just thrown all over the floor. Once we’d gone back downstairs to the staff we spoke to Brenda only for her to blame my wife and say your shouldn’t of left them there it’s your fault’ baring in mind the table they were put was right where we were told by Brenda to let our guests leave coats bags jackets etc and was next to where we had our wedding signs and pictures etc how dare she tell my wife it was her fault. The staff were so rude and nasty they didn’t help a single bit I had to ring the police myself (who may I add were useless) but let’s not get into that. Having realised we were not going to get anywhere with this situation and my wife who was totally distraught on what should of been a special amazing day we decided we should just go to bed as the staff wouldn’t do anything to help. All they cared about was us shutting up and going away. All in all a total shambles of a hotel with completely useless heartless staff and a total joke of a company. To top all of this off once the police finally investigated the theft and damage to my wife’s bouquet Hilton hotel actually lost the cctv footage and the crime was then dropped as even though the persons name was given to the police after the guest being found out and admitting to it there was no evidence to press charges. So we lost £1000 as we had paid to have the bouquet preserved and made into a picture for our new house. And that doesn’t even take into account the sentimental value these flowers held for my wife. Joke company joke staff and I would recommend to anybody do not get married here!!!!?
My Hilton experience
Very excellent stay at this hotel lovely seated area dining fantastic selection large variety of food on offer outdoor area very nice . Sauna and steam lovely, rooms comfortable great selection of TV channels. Nice grounds . Perfectly situated
Great team , tired hotel
As a Diamond honors member I stay in many Hiltons , this one has a great base of an old Country house but is in dire need of renovation . I was upgraded to a Deluxe Room which was not as the title suggests and not a great advert for the brand. Hard bed , old furniture , no USB points , old fashioned bathroom with shower curtain . The brand has moved on since this entered the Hilton estate and this place needs the renovation of rooms that I have seen in Croydon and other old Hiltons . The food was OK , ordered an Chicken and Leek pie with mash , got served with 8 green beans and a beef gravy !!! . Breakfast however was excellent and all the team were good and very polite . Some great team members , such a shame the premises have been left to get old .
Had a fabulous “Woodland afternoon tea” with my daughter. Food was delicious and the friendly team (Goncalo, Ellice and Katie M) really looked after us- without being intrusive.- thank you so much. Would highly recommend.
Ok Hotel but somewhat rundown. Service good thought. Old bathrooms but nice surroundings. Friendly staff and a very good breakfast. Good place to bring if you travel with four-legged friend. Convenient access to motorway
