O lobby é muito pequeno, mas o hotel é imenso. Nós hospedamos no prédio onde fica o SPA. O quarto que ficamos era muito pequeno e bem velho, precisa urgentemente de reforma, mas a mobília era velha porém de qualidade e bom gosto. A limpeza do banheiro e quarto estava impecável. O café da manhã estava incluso na diária e foi muito bom.

The Senator Disappoints

While the staff was very nice, everything was outdated in the rooms. The mattresses were old, the carpets were grimy, the breakfast was third rate. For the prestige that The Senator sounds like, there was nothing great about it. Would have been better at a cheap motel for half the price.

My mother and 14 year old daughter arrived at another hotel for a 4 day visit with family. The hotel was not only disgusting but unsafe as our door did not even lock. I called the senator and the gentleman was super accommodating and said he was able to get us 2 Rooms next to each other. When we arrived Gina at the front desk said she heard about our troubles and upgraded us to 2 larger adjoining rooms! When we entered the rooms they were clean and large. The adjoining rooms did not open and she was up in our room in 5 minutes to help! We couldn’t figure it out and she was back on it the next morning with the key! This is our new hotel when visiting family! Can not thank Gina enough for going the extra mile she had no idea how happy she made our family!

Glorified Motel

Oh boy, where to begin? I was in Augusta for a wedding, and stayed at the Senator Inn. Many people from the wedding also stayed here, and every single person I talked to also said they had a bad stay. I'll start by saying that the Senator Inn and Spa website is very misleading. It presents the hotel as a luxurious accommodation that is "great for that pampering vacation in Augusta." In reality it was nothing more than a glorified motel (with luxury hotel rates). It has a nice looking pool area (with very cold pool water), but the rest of the place seemed quite run down and basic. The "suites" are an interesting interpretation of what constitutes a suite. The suites seemed more like what you'd expect from a regular hotel room at most places. The regular rooms were small, old and worn down. What I found the most off-putting were their policies. They charge $30 if you want to check in early. I've stayed at a countless number of hotels in my life, and I have never once stayed at a place that did this. Regular check-in time is at 3:00, and they charged a friend of mine the $30 for checking in at 2:30. Talk about not making your guests feel welcome. Another different friend that was staying there made sure to wait until 3:00 so as to not be charged extra, and then when they tried checking in after 3:00 were told that their room wasn't ready. A different friend (the groom) of the wedding tried checking in late Friday night, but had forgotten his wallet 20 minutes away. He even presented the confirmation email to the front desk, but was told he would not be allowed to check in without his ID. They ended up having my friend call his wife the night before her wedding, and she had to get on a computer and fill out some forms or resubmit some information. It was my friend's fault for forgetting his wallet, but the whole process seemed quite unnecessary considering he presented the confirmation email on his phone. The layout of the place is also very confusing. It's awkwardly shaped, and even more awkwardly numbered. For example, rooms in the 200's and 300's are both on the 2nd floor. To add insult to injury, the morning that we were all checking out, the fire alarm started going off throughout the entire hotel. Everyone had to evacuate (scrambling and rushing around to grab everything and take it out with us so that we didn't get stuck waiting to get back into our rooms). I heard that some sort of malfunction in the spa was likely what set it off. To be fair, not everything was bad. The staff were all polite and professional. The fitness center was quite impressive by hotel standards. The location was conveniently located very close to food and shopping. There was plenty of parking as well.
