Budget friendly, but not good

Oh my this place is very date and run down. The staff are trying their best, but it needs a complete overhaul. You can see light around the entire door frame, you'd probably freeze in the winter! Loose railing windows won't stay open... Breakfast consisted of basically toast, cold cereal and bananas. So, if you just need a place to sleep with no higher expectations...this place works but, other than that go elsewhere.

*****BED BUGS***** FEB 21 We rented a room at Rodeway Inn in Austin, MN. We were originally put in a room that had not been cleaned (bed not made & previous renter garbage still present). Vanessa, the woman at the front desk, gave us another room of which ended up having bed bugs. When we went to the office it was locked. We then called Vanessa, as instructed. She preceeded to say, without even a hello much less a how can I help you, "this better be good or I'm going back to sleep." I started to tell her that we had bed bugs in our room & my friend had gotten bit several times. She screamed at me saying, "I'm going back to bed, don't bother me bi**h!" After calling the police, we were told by the officers that she is "very difficult to deal with" & we will have to file a civil suit because she would not be returning our money to get another room down the road. We have filed a complaint as well with the MN Board of Health. We do not recommend staying here not only because of the bed bugs & uncleanliness but also because of the drug activity of which Vanessa had also shared with us how she had kicked in 2 doors the night before using her baseball bat.

Crazy lady on the front she call to our room I was with my wife and she say to me don’t be scared people came here and kill people but we have 12 cameras and her second question was do u want kill your wife? This is not normal place don’t go over there .

We stayed the end of September. I booked the 2 bedroom suite. It could be a very nice room however, it was in the middle of a remodel or serious repairs. The curtains were not hung correctly. The one bedroom had 2 queen size beds and it was very difficult to fit in between the beds. There was no night table and the lamps were hanging on the wall with the cords draped along the edge of the beds. I sat on the bed and had a white powder all over my black pants. It appeared to be dust from wall board sanding around the windows. The only thing that looked new was the carpet. There was writing on the table in green marker. None of the remotes worked and we were told to pick up our keys from the mailbox because we would be arriving after 10pm when the office closed. If I had known the state of the room I would have continued driving.

On the website, it says to call for reservations if you will be staying with dogs. Bc only certain rooms were dog friendly rooms. So I called a month in advance due to the weekend we were staying would be Labor Day weekend. The lady said no problem, got a room for you. Great! We got to Dexter, MN, the weekend of Labor Day (town close to Austin) visited family at a camp ground. Called the motel, to see when the latest we could check in. “10pm the office closes, bc I am here 24/7, and I may be asleep by then.” Ok, no problem, we can be there at 9pm. We get there. “Oh, I don’t have you down for a reservation, but that’s no problem, we have plenty of rooms available.” Maybe that should have been my que to just walk away.... She was very nice, and she even gave us a room “away from other guests so you won’t be disturbed. And I will just charge for one dog for both nights, instead or two dogs” That’s great, then maybe the dogs won’t bark every little noise. We got to the room. The key card lock looks like someone tried to get in with a screwdriver. And when you are in the room, the door doesn’t lock/shut without jiggling the door a certain way. The bathroom shower had seen better days. The fiberglass is cracked and was missing. Looked like a preschooler painted the bathroom also. I could look past that, I’m not a Princess, bc I liked the fact that you could just walk out the door to let the dogs out and go for a walk. But what I couldn’t get past was the mouse poop in one of the Queen beds, then the other queen bed had a toddler’s sock in it. So nobody changed the bedding between tenants. Will never ever EVER stay there again!
