Fantastic location, really friendly staff and a great room. We stayed in the lighthouse room that sleeps 4 (we had 2 adults / 2 kids) and it was perfect. We were provided beach towels at the front desk and water bottles too. The roof deck is fab for morning coffee or evening drinks. Great value for money on the island.

My cousin and I went for our second trip together and it was perfect! The staff are very nice, all that we came across! Checkin was so simple and check out was even simpler! Our room was ready way before we got there and they even kept in touch with us before our trip! Can’t say I have any complaints, I just warn big families looking into this as it’s extremely small but very home like and comfortable for smaller parties! They also let us store our bags until the office closed for the day (4:00pm) as we waited for our boat! Also, the hotel is like a two minute walk from the beach and all the town shops so it was awesome, had a beautiful roof top you could go to as well! There’s also a Mexican place nearly next to it, minute walk at most! Overall, we loved it and I would happy reserve again should we return to Catalina!

Loved the Sandcastle House!

We stayed in Sandcastle House, the building next to the main building, which was great. Full of antiques and had a very cottage by the sea feel. My girls and I loved it! The rooftop is a must, we watched sunsets, sunrises, and did some stargazing as well as viewing of the town of Avalon from above. Lastly, the location is perfect for a walk with luggage from the Ferry and in the center of Avalon so easily walkable everywhere.

Our party of 6 (including parents, 2 adult children and 2 teens) really were charmed by the Sandcastle Cottage. We had plenty of room to spread out, even with just one small bathroom. The location of the unit was just perfect- very close to all the points of interest in Avalon. We walked to the Casino Dive Park for our SCUBA dive (about 7 min walk), and walked to wherever we wanted to eat. They had room to store our luggage on check-in day, but there was nowhere to store luggage on check out day so we had to walk our luggage over to the pier to use the lockers ($1 for a decent sized locker, $5 to store a small-carryon sized suitcase). Knocked off one star because this is very very pricey! We even were there off-season. Also it was very cold at night and we couldn't figure out how to turn on a heater and couldn't find enough blankets in the unit. We were all shivering at night- but we should have figured out the heating earlier in the day.

The Seacrest Inn is one block off of the main Avalon beach/drag, perfect location. Really in the middle of everything; I don't think any hotel is better situated. Each room has a completely different vibe to it. It's a small place, perhaps eight rooms, each with their own door to the outside. Everything you need is provided, and everything worked. The room even has a mini-fridge and I think it had a microwave. Plenty of space, but at least ours had a strange layout - smallish bed, long hallway, no desk - but nice and didn't feel cramped at all. We were able to drop off our bags and even change in the "second office/storeroom" well before check-in. It looked like they even have towels you can borrow for the beach/diving; we'd brought our own and droppped by AFTER our dive, so it wasn't an issue for us, but was a nice touch. Check-in doesn't start until 3pm, and our room wasn't available until nearly then anyhow, but the clerk was leaving at 4pm... which was a pretty narrow window when you're doing multi-hour activities like scuba or zip lining. Communication was excellent though - she both phoned and texted status regularly. (We couldn't get them, neither underwater nor while zip-lining, but that wasn't her fault. ;) ) Right outside our front door were a pair of tables, each with a pair of chairs, essentially on the "deck" although really it's the walkway entrance to several rooms. Nice touch. Our upstairs neighbors were partying into the night, which is reasonable for Catalina, but was very audible. On the flip side, the hotel actually provided packaged ear plugs on the night-stand, so they did deal with it; we just aren't used to ear plugs. I would not hesistate to stay here again.
