We went to Maine for a color tour and found this motel close enough to Acadia National park and Baxter State That we chose this location. Very Friendly staff and large rooms. Enjoyed Being there very much.

A Great Surprise

Had a night in Bangor before heading home - booked the Pine Tree Inn because it is close to the airport. We were totally surprised at how nice the room was, bed nice and firm, quiet except for a few plane take offs in the early evening and we were able to walk to and from the airport. Would stay again if in the area - great value. Very helpful staff when we checked in - room had microwave, two burner cook top and a fridge. You will need to request plates and cookware at the front desk if you plan on cooking in.

Filthy & Rude!

This is a low income apartment complex that rents out an extra room/s on the side. We arrived in the evening after flying across country exhausted only to find our room was up a couple flight of stairs (no elevator) and I'm legally disabled, my Uncle is 72 and it was just too much for my older husband as we had a lot of luggage being we were in the process of moving across country. I asked the young man/boy working the desk (after waiting 10 minutes for him to get off his cell phone) if he would kindly help carry luggage up? He was extremely rude and stated "no, customer service ends at 8pm at The Pine Tree." I paid a couple kids who lived in the building $20 to help bring up our luggage (the desk clerk saw this and brought up the one small bag I was going to bring up), no, I did not tip him for his sudden interest in helping. The room was filthy, the pull out couch had multiple rings of stains in the sheets, the floor was filthy, old food/garbage, the bathroom oddly enough was clean, but there was molded food in the microwave, and the bedding on the main bed was stained. The desk clerk became angry and argumentative when I requested clean bedding (which I had begun to remake the bed myself as nobody else was going to). That bedding was clean but so low quality it had hundreds of matted lint balls on it) I still would have slept on it being so tired, however, it was at this point when my uncle ( a 29 year military veteran who can handle most anything), pulled out the couch I described earlier and of course refused to sleep on it (nor would I have expected him to). It smelled of urine as well. We carried our bags downstairs, it's nearly 11:30 pm now, we hired a Lyft driver and paid him hundreds of dollars to drive us to our next destination. The desk clerk (for whatever reason took us checking out as a personal insult) and started cussing us out, saying we had to "wait outside in the snow/20 degree weather to wait for our Lyft driver." Filthy words are unacceptable! We didn't cuss at him, we asked for a refund which was denied at the time, but I saw days later refunded to my bank account. I realize jobs are plentiful, staffing is quite difficult in Maine, there is an enormous shortage of employees, but this young man has anger issues and has zero business working in customer service. I do not know who the owner is, but they need to inspect the room/s once in awhile particularly during Covid. This was last winter, hopefully they've improved since then, but it would take a lot. Because I am traveling back to Bangor soon, I saw they wanted $230.00 a night with the picture of the same nightmare pullout couch and cringed... You couldn't pay me to stay there! Again, maybe it's much better now, but I've never experienced anything like that in my entire life. Unbelievable.

Stay away from the Pine Tree Inn in Bangor, Maine

If I didn’t have to give one star in order to complete the review, I wouldn’t. We booked one night at The Pine Tree Inn through Expedia in order to arrive at the Bangor Airport on time. It is in a VERY, VERY sketchy side of town with junkies literally camped out across the street. We hesitantly walked in and there was literally no one to check us in. We waited just long enough to decide that it was time to go. Our guess is that this place has become an extended-stay haven for those who are one paycheck away from homelessness, which is not a criticism—simply a sad fact. Booked a room in the Bangor Holiday Inn that was better. Fortunately it looks as if we may receive a complete refund. The airport side of town is grossly neglected and rife with abject poverty. Beginning to understand Stephen King’s inspiration.

Failed us and then cursed us!

Our reservation (via Travelocity) was not honored because they’d oversold the rooms. The first two gentlemen who we dealt with at the desk were mildly concerned, but made no suggestions as to what we could do at 9:00 pm, exhausted after a drive that day of 500+ miles, in a city where every room was already booked except a few that were over $500! We were sitting in their shabby lobby, texting back and forth with Travelocity, trying to get some help, while the ‘night clerk’ was cursing non-stop— the F word every few seconds. My husband’s nerves were raw; he told the ‘night clerk’ to stop the language. Big mistake! We were insulted, cursed, and ordered out of the lobby, as he placed a call to the police. Do not stay at a hotel that would employ such a vile individual!
