Room 4/5 as there was a half eaten biscuit on the floor under the bed, and something mouldy had been flicked onto the bathroom wall, but bed was okay, good amenities and we all slept. Breakfast 0/5 as we couldn’t eat it. Arrived downstairs at 8.05, which according to the lift is the time it gets busier. Was only two other tables in so we though all would be okay. No hot buffet out so we had to order, which we did and then I went to check out the continental offerings. Stale bread, rock hard meat, fruit salad which had turned brown, and a few tiny croissants. Hot food arrived, two of the three meals were wrong, and the sausages with overly deep friend. We couldn’t eat it so complained and got our breakfast money back, but we then had to go any find somewhere else to eat with a hungry two year old. Morrisons cafe round the corner saved the day.

Unacceptable level of service

I stayed at this hotel last year, having booked two rooms. I wasn’t filled with confidence when Ann, the receptionist advised me on check in that they had had their computer hacked, which included access to my personal and credit card details. As a result of this hack, no receipt was available at check out and no loyalty points could be added to account. I chased weekly for both only to be given excuse after excuse, mainly that “Benny isn’t in today” ! Eventually after persistence, they emailed me the invoice mid December but still no points. Despite being promised twice that “Manager Ann from down stairs” would call me to discuss my complaint, she has never bothered. Nor have my points been added. Poor service and the possibility of my personal details and card number being in the wrong hands.. Not good !

As a full time wheelchair user, I paid extra for an accessible room. The room smelt really bad as there was a definite problem with the drains. The hand soap was positioned high on the wall above a high set back sink, all totally inaccessible to any wheelchair user. The pull down handrail by the toilet was loose and shaky as well as on the wrong side for me as a right handed customer. The level of cleanliness left a lot the be desired. On top of that the tv remote was missing and when I reported that I was given a broken one that didn’t work! I would not recommend this hotel and definitely won’t be going back!

Rude Reception

On arrival ( mid afternoon 10th February) I dropped my wife as close to the entrance as possible as she is disabled and struggles to walk more than a few yards. The reception area is quite large and she clearly struggled to get to the reception desk. Instead of offering assistance the woman at the desk gave her a hard time for being at the wrong part of the desk. My wife couldn't move any further by this time as she was clearly in pain and just waited for my arrival. This woman clearly needs further training on how to treat people with a little bit of decency and respect. Simply not good enough. She is clearly not in the right job or at the very least needs some training. Never ever an excuse to be rude! The room was good Comfortable bed, good quality pillows, lovely bathroom. Television was very small. Good location close to the motorway. Apart from the reception on arrival the staff were good however our initial reception marred our visit which was a shame

I don’t know about the rest of the room but the room we got which was a huge room for 3 is super dated. It’s stuck in the 80s/90s. It’s clean enough. We were here for a funeral reception. Food was good and the hall or ballroom we used was dated but good enough. It wouldn’t be a placed I’d go for a break because there’s nothing around it. There’s a leisure club next door but we didn’t use it. Couldn’t comment on breakfast either. Be aware that the reception didn’t seemed to be staffed. We came back at around 10/11 pm one night and we have to knock on the front door. Staff seemed to have been woken up. The next night we had to do the same. We stayed 2 nights. Staff was efficient and amicable. It could serious do with a refurb and drag it into the 2020s (although the way this decade is going perhaps it’s better not to!)
