Fantastic Hotel!

Room 201 was huge with kitchenette, refrigerator, 2 televisions, and pull out queen sofa. Hotel was extremely clean. Great bar, restaurant, beer hall, and Biergarten. We loved everything about his hotel. Not a negative point to report. Will definitely be back.

More than just a hotel room

The reviews I read about the Inn were a bit fuzzy. Yes, the Inn has a restaurant, a beer garden, entertainment, spick and span cleanliness, newly renovated — it’s a few very old buildings joined together, a German-American dining room with good food and a central location in the quiet town of Batesville, Indiana. What I didn’t read beforehand was this: yes, it’s quaint and the rooms are unique in various ways, some small by modern standards, and with 22 rooms, friendly but there is no elevator only stairs to get to the rooms; the restaurants serve a full menu on week-ends only; week days food is served in the bar every day, and there are several places in view of the hotel to dine or get a coffee or drink. There is no breakfast, but a small meal upon request that is carry out, COVID or not. A cafe is across the street that suits nicely for a hot beverage or the coffee maker in your room. The people of Batesville are warm and welcoming, most of all on the week-end there’s more than just a room waiting for you at the hotel. Consider the dining experience, the Beer garden and week-end entertainment and suddenly the Sherman Inn becomes a destination itself! This became clear when we stayed a few days there recently. And we’’ll like to do it again. You will too.

We had a big family get together at The Sherman. It has been completely remodeled and updated. The rooms were comfortable and the atmosphere is a modern Black Forest. We had a German buffet dinner in our dining room and a breakfast with delicious food the next morning. (They even brought their chef in an hour early to accommodate us.) We spent Saturday evening at the outdoor Bier Garten listening to a talented young singer. Everyone from the owners to the waitresses went out of their way to take care of our family and make it a memorable weekend for us.

Quaint & Comfortable with Modern Amenities

We spent one night at The Sherman to experience the results of a $1.7 million renovation of the 1852 landmark German restaurant and 22 room boutique hotel. We stayed in room 201 located near the stairway from the lobby. This spacious suite is comprised of two rooms, a bedroom and bath with an array of closets and drawers that would allow you to stay for a month. A second room with its own door contains a kitchenette with granite countertops, leather sleeper sofa, leather lounge chair, two seat dining table and flat screen high definition TV. Everything was spotlessly clean and pristine. We will definitely return. Staff was gracious and friendly.

Fantastic Weekend Away!

My husband and I booked the Sherman King room since there were no suites available, but we were not disappointed in the room! It had everything we needed and our only complaint was the sink was TINY! Everything was beautifully updated and SUPER clean! For a building that was built in 1853, it was cleaner than any brand new place! We stayed for two nights and ate at the restaurant both nights because the food was so good. Due to COVID restrictions, they only had danish, granola bar, juice and coffee upon request for breakfast. We went to the Bier Hall both nights were they had live music, good array of beers and a selection of bar snacks made to order. I would've like to had some polka music, but I understand the hotel is catering to the locals during this tough time. They have a store on site with limited hours, but we were able to call and were met quickly for a "private opening" with who we later found out was one of the owners, Peyton. She was so helpful and great throughout our stay! George the bartender was very personable and gave us tips on food, drinks and all of the activities to check out around town. We will definitely be back with some friends next time! *The business was very respectful of the COVID regulations and like I said it was really clean! Don't let it deter you from going!
