Lugar fantástico

Nos hospedamos em dezembro de 2018. O hotel fica num bairro típico Chinês, o chamado Hutongs e o legal é que a proprietária sou manter o estilo tradicional mas oferecendo todo o conforto da modernidade. O banheiro é ótimo, a ducha fantástica. A cama é bem grande e confortável .

Great hotel

Good traditional small hotel in a nice hutong. The location is perfect, among locals but also very good restaurants and traditional bakeries. The room was very nicely decorated, clean, spacious. The two managers were lovely and would go the extra mile to help you with everything. When they found out we loved the "moon cakes" , they brought us all they had! Thank you so much Jennifer and Briana for everything.

Traditional location

We stayed in a nice dwelling with a wooden ceiling and a typical furniture. Out of the hotel door we were right in the middle of Beijing hutongs walking among local people. Jennifer, the young lady managing the place, was extremely kind and helpful.

Liar and bad faith

What could you say about a place lying to you in order to cancel your booking. The police has decided to close the place. Meanwhile the manager was offering the same room twice the price. It is a place not to book in advance.

Amazing welcome

The SonGy was our first stop on a round-China trip, and we could not have wished for a better welcome to the country. Jennifer, the host, is incredibly friendly and helpful, arranging for an early check-in after our overnight flight, providing her WeChat number in case we had trouble finding the hotel (we didn’t, although worth noting it there is no signage; you’re looking for No. 32), booking tickets to the Forbidden City for us, and even loaning us Beijing travel cards (which we returned with the same starting credit, naturally). I really cannot say enough good things about her. The room we stayed in was perfect; minimally furnished but stylish with some nice touches. Air conditioning was easy to keep the room cool, although it seemed to maintain a comfortable temperature in the shade of the courtyard hutong. Shower also excellent. We didn’t try the breakfast. I don’t know what it consisted of but at 100rmb per person, it seemed a pricey option compared to what you can buy locally (and Jennifer had already recommended a cafe 5 mins away which was both cheap and excellent). This is a small guest house rather than a large hotel so I guess food costs a bit more to prepare especially. As a courtyard hutong there’s a small amount of outside space and a little terrace, but sound does carry from here into the rooms and it can feel a bit intimate since the windows of each room look into the courtyard; just something to note, but didn’t bother us at all. The location of SonGy is pretty good: a 10 minute walk to the metro (also a departure point for a good Great Wall tour) and from there a short journey to most places you’ll want to go in the city. Plus, it’s in a traditional hutong... there are tours to visit these but it’s way better to stay in one. It felt like home after only two days. If rating only the accommodation I would give this 5 stars, but with Jennifer’s great welcome and service, I wish I could give 6. She made our stay a pleasure, and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again if we return to Beijing. --- Addendum: for the sake of transparency, I feel obliged to mention SonGy marked me as a 'no-show' on Booking.com, several weeks after my stay. I hope that this was a mistake and not an attempt to avoid paying commission.
