A pleasant stay for a night

We had to find a place in Berea due to a mistake on our reservation at another location and we ended up taking a chance on what is now called The Hometown Inn (same motel, just a different name over the door). The family that runs the Inn was pleasant. The room was clean, the mattress was comfortable, and the rate was very reasonable. The primary negative we experienced here was regarding the smoking policy. Cigarette smoke is extremely uncomfortable for us. Our room was a non-smoking room as was the one next door. But, there was a chair just outside the rooms and our next-door neighbor was smoking heavily and some of the smoke drifted into our room. Smoking should not be allowed anywhere near a non-smoking rooms -- only proximate to smoking rooms.

Great little motel

Motel staff was so welcoming and friendly! The room was very clean and quiet. Bed was very comfortable with plenty of pillows. Room had a small fridge and coffee maker. Great price for the room. I highly recommend. I would definitely come back! And I repeat- exceptional staff!

Moisture problem

Musty smell on arrival, which was very late at night. A small wet area was found on the floor of the dated room (but that was not surprising, given the cheap price). We slept well. In the morning, the floor was wet again and we found a soft spot that, with pressure, seeped black moisture up through the flooring: would have rated higher but for that issue

Hometown Inn, formerly Holiday Motel

The Holiday Motel in Berea had a change of ownership in March, 2018. We have stayed at this motel many times over the years. It is now known as Hometown Inn and several changes have taken place. The coupon rate increased by 20%. The continental breakfast is gone, as well as wi-fi in your room & lawn chairs to relax in outside of the room. Two improvements: the office is now open most of the time & it has been remodeled. That is where one has to go to get internet. Two staff members spoke English.

Think Twice

My wife and I stayed there twice within past couple of weeks. Would not recommend. First time they knew we had a dog and didn't have a charge. Second time they tried to charge but after arguing they said they wouldn't charge "this time". The young man who appears to be owner is nice and helpful but watch out for the young woman and the old man. They're stingy about giving towels and the old man watches as you fill up the ice bucket. Sloppy room service but I guess you get what you pay for. Will never go back.
