Usually these Holiday Inn Hotels are good, but this one is just average. My wife and I thought beds are in need for an upgrade. Place is relatively clean but significantly old carpets. Breakfast was not of good quality, as many items were gone including oatmeal and bananas before 8am (breakfast supposed to last until 10am). The lady serving breakfast was kind and tried to help, but that’s out of her hand. Well, this hotel is thus overpriced and the quality of service is just average.
Alabama trip
Excellent hotel. Beds very comfortable, room very clean. Breakfast bar was delicious. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Has a nice little workout room and swimming pool. Has little patio area to sit outside.
Spent 6 days there due to a loved one's ICU hospitalzation and then sadly a funeral.
Employees were very kind and accomodating. After 3 days I needed to book more rooms for out of town family. The desk clerk worked hard to keep all the rooms together on the same floor, which was her suggestion. That was very much appreciated. The beds and pillows were comfortable and the continental breakfast was good. It was nice to have a good coffee in the room and lobby. I would stay there again. Only wish the pool was outside. It's awful hot weather in the summer.
Average hotel, but overpriced
I had a large, king room and stayed for nearly three weeks while on business. My average cost per night with tax was over $137/night. There are less expensive options with newer hotels in the area. The internet was slow, and many times wouldn't work at all. I had to connect to the hotel wifi next door. The cable for the tv would fade in and out. I had to turn the tv off and on every 10-15 minutes to get a signal. Besides fast food, the only two acceptable restaurants nearby are Cracker Barrel and Applebee's. I recommend staying closer to Tuscaloosa and having more options for dining.
Unprofessional
Overall this location was adequate. The sheets were clean and the bedding was comfortable. The shower had good pressure and was hot. The front desk staff upon checking in was friendly and pleasant, checkout was very indifferent. Breakfast was lacking... had to wait a while on the eggs, sausage was undercooked, no cinnamon rolls at all, and the juice was tinted water. The breakfast staff were sitting at tables doing paperwork, they were very friendly but not very attentive to replenishing the food items. The most disturbing thing about our stay was someone opened our door and placed our bill inside the door jamb. This was done despite a very large gap at the bottom of our door for sliding it under as most hotels do, it was locked and the do not disturb sign was out. This is not professional or acceptable and is an invasion of privacy. So, you may want to request ahead of time that your bill be placed under the door.
