Good location, comfortable

Has a great gym that nobody was using and is in a great location not too far from campus. I had not been in B-burg for many years until that day in July 22. I was applying for a PhD program but it didnt work out. Trip advisor needs its 200 characters so here it is.

Great value, great owners

I rented a room here for a week while visiting a family member. The room itself was rather comfortable, especially for the price. There were no bad smells or stains and the bed and bathroom were standard hotel fare. There was a bit of noise from cars passing by outside, but nothing that would prevent you from falling asleep. There are plenty of restaurants and entertainment venues nearby and a bus stop right outside the inn that can take you to the VT campus. Overall, I'd say that the physical location deserves a 4/5. The real value of this establishment that pushes my review up to a 5/5 is the owners. Besides being generally friendly and checking in often to make sure that my stay was enjoyable, one of the owners offered to get up early and drive me to a bus stop so that I could catch my ride home, saving me the cost of an uber or a 45 minute walk.

Pleasant Stay/Great Value

The Red Carpet is is an older style (Late 50's/early 60') motor inn located about a mile from Virginia Tech and Blacksburg town center. It appeared that the outside facade and ground were updated with paint and modern landscaping materials. Upon check in, I was amiably greeted and there were no issues. During my stay, I would talk with the gentleman who checked me in (and also his wife) several more times. Both were genuinely interested in making my stay a pleasant one. I stayed two weekend nights in order to visit my son at VT. I've stayed at a lot of hotels/motels/inns/ in the past and to say this was probably the cleanest kept accommodation would not be hyperbole. Some of the interior is dated, however the appliances all worked, the furniture was in excellent shape, and the room smelled "clean." Bed and pillows were comfortable. The usual budget soaps and shampoos were provided. Hot water was plentiful (and hot!) The used towels were replaced and trash emptied mid-stay. My room had vinyl plank flooring but other rooms had carpet if that matters to you. During my stay, the internet was a "iffy." Based on the to the timing of the issues, it seemed to me the bandwidth was unable to handle the load when the inn had more people staying in the rooms. Both my son with an I-phone, and I with a newer laptop, had issues. I mentioned it at checkout and he believed it may be related to a power outage the night before and added he would bring it up to his IT guy. Other stuff: Coffee in the office was plentiful during the AM. I'm not a fan a Maxwell House, but it actually tasted good. Blacksburg has a very good Public Transportation system of buses, though the website leaves a lot to be desired. There is a bus stop right outside the property. PT is cheap (free at the time due to COVID) and runs about every 1/2 hour. I can imagine though, using PT during VT football games could be challenging. Grocery stores,movies/bowling, eating establishments and a CVS are all within a short walk. Even though it was a not a busy event weekend at VT, there were wait times to be seated at the restaurants. Plan accordingly. Shopped at Krogers (pricey.) Ate at : Mellow Mushroom (service good/average prices/pizza good,) Waffle House (service good/average prices/food good,) Bull & Bones Brewhaus (food good/average prices,/service good,) and Guacho Brazilian Steak House (food good/pricey/service terrible.) The Red Carpet INN represents a great value for the area. It's not the Ritz by any means but it was clean and I had a pleasurable stay with no (except internet) issues. Close enough to town/VT but far enough away to avoid the noise and din of a college town at night. The money I saved staying at the Inn,I spent in town restaurants. I suggest you do the same.

Excellent customer service

Rating is for service in the office, as we were unable to stay. I had an immediate asthmatic allergic reaction in the room (happens a lot for me, I'm very sensitive to cleaning solutions). The man at the front desk was very understanding and helped us to cancel our stay. The room seemed clean and had a fridge and microwave. We would have absolutely stayed if not for my asthma and allergies.

Very kind and helpful owners

I recently stayed at the Red Carpet Inn in Blacksburg. It was easy to find and centrally located. The room was spotless and very quiet. I am an older woman and was traveling by myself. I needed a place to stay to split up two long days of driving. The owners were kind when I called to inquire about availability and helped me with luggage when I arrived. Harry suggested the perfect place for dinner. I felt completely safe and well cared for during my stay. This is a small family owned business, and besides being very conveniently located, they really care about their guests. I would recommend this place to anyone.
