If you want to feel at home, this is the place!

This is a cozy, very clean, family-oriented place, with very kind and reliable staff. It is conveniently located close to main roads and to good restaurants. Because the house is located in front of a park I slept soundly and was awakened by birds' songs (a pleasant and rare experience in a large city). The price was perfect for a teacher. I recommend this hostel to family and friends and to anyone who wants to avoid the informal atmosphere of large hotels. I give preference to local businesses. They offer me an opportunity to learn about the country's people and culture. I used taxis to move around, they are cheap, safe, and honest.

A Homey Place to Stay with Wonderful Staff

It's like staying in a lovely home in a real neighbourhood. The location is difficult to find; make sure to get directions from the management that you can give to a cab driver. However, it's only a short walk away from the Millenio Line: one bus into downtown Bogota. Mauricio, Eduardo, and everyone else was wonderful. The breakfast each morning was a great way to start the day. The room as tiny but fine for my needs. Full bathroom. Cable TV. Very quiet. It is more expensive than you can pay elsewhere, but I loved it.

The owners are liars. We payed for a room with bathroom. The shower was broken. We couldn't use the shower for 5 days. So we asked a little discount. Nothing. The breakfast is also terrible. Don't trust this people. They are arrogant and they only want is your money.

Way to expensive (they charged us 95$ instead of the 80$ said on their site) for what you get, we were left out on sunday afternoon under the rain and cold for 2 hours, no aswer on both phones, breakfast! if you are 5 minutes late you get a dirty look and only a few slices of fruit a coffee and some bread and there not other meal that you can bye as they say on the site.. Otherwise it is a nice place.

Home Feeling out of the city centre
Avaliou em 24 de dezembro de 2008
This was my second stay (1st in Nov 07) at Hostal Bogota Real. The staff there are very friendly and as other reviewers mentioned, helpful with internet access and washing if required. The place is clean and tidy. At first it can be a little awkward to find as the streets are very similar and the small parks are on a pattern layout (best arriving in the afternoon and not 2am!) but you soon get used to it. Its in a very quiet neighbourhood, outside of the main city centre which is the reason I choose this place. The rooms are large, beds are fine, plenty of light and while not new are perfectly adequete as a bed and breakfast place to stay. I enjoyed staying here, the only downsides I can see are the showers can be a little temperamental, not all bedrooms are en-suite (although you only tend to share with 1 other room) and the breakfasts can be a little on the small side of 1 egg, toast and a small plate of fruit (I certainly would prefer more fruit and for a Colombian sized breakfast its fairly small). The coffee is good though and you can ask for more breakfast if you really want. You dont get your own security key for the gates so someone has to let you in, as I was normally returning around 1 or 2 am I found I had to tell them in advance and felt a little guilty as they had to get up to open the door. Its not close to the centre of Bogota, although this is easily reached on public transport, but if you want a more North location it is safer than the centre and accesses the North of Bogota with more nightlife and the more prosperous (relatively) areas. Otherwise if I was visiting again for a few days and just want somewhere to sleep and get clothes washed with basic internet access its perfect, I would stay again!
