Idyllic retreat in the mountains to recharge your batteries
This lodge was just perfect for us to wind down after the festive season. All ammenties in the lodge were practically new, cooker, fridge/freezer etc and bedrooms and bathrooms spacious and clean. The view out of the lounge overlooked the ski slopes so provided more iinterest than watching TV, Nothing but top marks throughout.
Boyne Mountain Condo
We loved our condo at Boyne Mountain and thought the location was great. A nice space for two couples. Open your door and to the right a three man chair lift. All the restaurants within walking distance. We were there the first week of December, so not all the runs were open, but they working hard on readying them.
My husband and I spent a week at Mountain Run in a very spacious 3 bedroom 3 bath "combo" unit. What I mean by that is that we had a 1 bedroom unit, and in a main entry way, was a separate door leading to the separate 2 bedroom unit. Don't get me wrong, it would be great for a family to each have their own space/unit, and it was when ours came to visit, but .. when you walk in, you're in like a 10 x 12 'mud room' with 2 locking closets for your gear (one for A - one for B unit) and a shared washer/dryer. I wouldn't like it if we had rented say the "B" unit, and there was someone in the "A" unit ... I don't know, maybe it was just me. The worst part of our stay. When we got there, we checked into one desk, then had to go to another desk to get our parking pass. Ok, we've done that at other timeshare resorts where they try to get you to come to their sales pitch meeting. The gentleman behind the desk say "Oh, Mr & Mrs Patterson, welcome, I think I talked to you Mr. Patterson about attending our information meeting and you declined.." My husband says "Yes, I did..we have 2 timeshares currently, and don't need another but Thank You.." From there we were given the option to "buy" a $99 weekend...sounds great until you read the fine print at the bottom that says 'in order to "buy" this weekend, you must attend a sales meeting.." Nope..not doing it. Every morning, someone called to see if they could schedule us for a 'meeting'... Remember, we already said "No" prior to our arrival, and again on our arrival. 2 mornings, when we didn't answer the house-phone, they called our cell phones. My husband again said "Not Interested" on the first call...so that would be 3 times we told them "No"...yet they continued to call every morning. EVERY morning.. See, we were on this thing called "Vacation" and we kinda like to sleep in when we're on "Vacation" and not be bothered by sale pitches even after saying "No, Not interested" 4 times prior!! We were given wrist bands for riding the chair lift and being on the grounds. I never saw it move the entire week we were there, which was a bummer because it was Peak-Leaf time. Now, that's not the worst part, the worst part is calling the front desk to ask if the chair lift is running, being told "Yes" it was, having your family get dressed to go, driving over, and finding out in fact, "No" it wasn't operating that day...at all...and hadn't been...at all. That happened on our 2nd day, and again when we checked out, I asked if it was running when I turned in our keys, and was told "Oh yea, it's a beautiful day to ride it.." Drove over and found the signs saying it was closed, and no one around...again. Like no one tells anyone what's going on. It was annoying, but not a deal breaker. The Plus - the unit was comfortable and very spacious. Even the 1 bedroom side. We ate dinner twice at the Pub, and while kinda expensive for drinks, you are in the middle of pretty much no-where and at a resort...so just roll with it. Or stay in your unit and have adult beverages. We had everything we needed (pots, pans, etc) to make a couple of meals with... Beds were firm, but we thought they were comfortable. It was fall and neither fireplace (Gas) did anymore than show a tiny embers burning when we turned it on. No flame. No heat. We called the front desk and asked for someone to come and check it and maybe turn it up a little because we did have some flat-out cold days, but...no one ever came. I just wish they would have told us "That's how it is" or "We won't send anyone to do that" or at least call back and tell us the maintenance guy went home, heck we know they can call every day asking if we want to do a sales tour, so I know they could call and let us know if they were sending someone...or not. It's a nice place. Spacious. It IS in the middle of no where, which is fine...but stop at Meijer or Super Walmart on your way in or it's a half hour drive to run and get groceries. I just wish there were more communication between the employees is all....and less calling every morning at 10am to ask if we've changed our mind about taking a sales tour...I'd think our file could be noted that after the first, second, third or maybe the forth time that we weren't interested...bugging us daily certainly wasn't going to change our minds...
Chalet iN Michiganise to several lovely to
Very pleasant resort. Several restaurants and shops around the corner. Trip to the top of the mountain on the ski lift for an awesome view. Very close to Mackinac Island and several lovely towns. Weather was perfect.
Very well kept resort with nice amenities. Has variety of restaurants, pubs, coffee shops, and activities. Great location. Close enough to Traverse City and Petoskey, but still away from the crowds. Golfing was overpriced for the courses, but lots of other activities worth the money.
