Stayed at the end of Aug, for 2 nites. No check-in or check-out courtesy. Would have advised dissatisfaction of the bedding if asked if everything was ok with our stay however I was not and felt like it would not be well received if offered. Mattress is well overdue changing and pillows had no life left in them they were so flat. Stayed in room one which is the big one shown in photos, it is outdated however clean so that ok. Carpet in the bathroom and the step not a great idea for a hotel room. Would not recommend and pricey for what you are getting at £115 per nite.
Dated but charming hotel

We visited Campbeltown for the Mull of Kintyre music festival and picked the Argyll Arms Hotel on a recommendation. The hotel is a little dated, it would benefit greatly from a little modernisation and refurbishment but it has a real charm to it.
The hotel is immaculately clean and very well presented, the rooms spotless and well appointed. The bed was comfortable the room and en suite spacious and functional.
The staff were superb, couldn’t do enough to help you. They would be an asset in any hotel, in the Argyll Arms they lift the level of your stay, that should be a minimum of any good staff.
I can’t say these comments are negative but worth noting. I was woken around 0640 by the central heating system, again symptomatic of the need for modernisation. Secondly, there was an almost imperceptible air of dampness in the atmosphere, salt cellars needing changed due to the damp, seats with sensation of damp. The 24 hours of heavy rain before we got there might have had a hand in the issue but they were trying to do something about it.
I’d happily go back to this hotel

My partner booked this hotel for a 2 night stay, to say I was disappointed was an understatement. Hotel badly needs refurbished, bedroom furniture very old, duvet on bed needed replaced. The room had recently been painted but the smoke alarm was brown with age and had obviously been installed before smoking ban was brought in. On the plus side the bathroom looked like it had had a recent refurbishment. We had dinner in the hotel on our first night, food was very basic but edible. The dining room became very noisy when a party of 18 11yr olds came in for dinner. Would I stay here again, no.
Lunch time treat

Stopped off in a rainy Campbelltown for something to eat.
Stopped a local to ask the best places for food and they recommended the hotel.
Greeted by a lovely waitress who could not be more helpful. The food was excellent and I would definitely recommend
Dirty, dated, in need of refurbishment

Hotel from the outside looks run down and this does not improve when you enter, the whole place is in need of refurbishment and a good clean.
Lampshade above the bed was full of cobwebs, hardly and heat from radiators in the room, an additional heater was provided and this made a little difference.
Furniture in the bedrooms very dated, full of scratches and dents, couldn't lock room from the inside and had to put a chair against the door.
When I went to reception to get WiFi details the gent that was on reception was not keeping a safe distance away in line with covid restrictions.
