Cancún

Cidade maravilhosa, adoramos pegar ônibus e circular com apenas um dólar por trecho por pessoas. Recomendamos, motoristas bem atenciosos com os turistas, fazer compras nos pontos turísticos tsmb é uma ótima opção

Perfect location as a central base for travel all over the Riviera Maya region

We just returned from 10 days in Cancun (stayed at this hotel the whole trip) and this hotel is within walking or very quick bus (10.5 pesos) or collectivo (8 pesos) trip to almost anywhere you want to go. A block and a half to the Soriana (kinda like a MX version of Walmart but better prices) and mall. Great cucina economica immediately next door. We decided to get a 20 liter jug of water for our room from the OXXO a couple doors down just in case, but we never had any tummy issues drinking the iced agua frescas at the little local restaurants or eating the yummy 3x10 pesos sweet buns/donuts at the local corner street cart. We never felt unsafe even though there were a couple of seedy looking 'nightclubs' down the block and up some stairs. It is in the oldest part of town (the original little fishing village before tourism) so the sidewalks are not in the best repair. The towels are huge but they are dried out on a line so they don't feel fluffy like electrically dried towels. The air conditioning worked perfectly although a bit noisy but we did not use it most of the time as we were comfortable with our window open day or night (there are iron bars so no problems). Clean bathrooms/well swept and we did not see one bug in 10 days even without pesticides - amazing in a tropical city. Although you are in the city dogs & roosters may wake you early so take earplugs. Be prepared to speak a bit of Spanish as the owners and all staff do not speak any English (although they are all friendly and try their best to interpret your needs). Almost all of the fellow hotel guests were family/budget travellers from other parts of Mexico with a very few Europeans/Canadians/Americans in the mix. When you try to speak a bit of Spanish everyone goes out of their way to be helpful and a few times when we could have been taken advantage of financially due to misunderstood language everyone we dealt with in that area was scrupulously honest and did not overcharge us (in fact gave us discounts/money back when we expected the normal tourist price). We travelled to Isla Mujeres 2x (take the Magana ferry for less than half the price of Ultramar and a real 'locals' experience), Puerto Morelos, Coba, Tulum, and Playa Del Carmen. Take the R-1 'Centro/Cruces/Hoteles' buses to go to the ADO (long distance/intercity/airport) bus station, to go to the main Scotiabank, or to come & go along Av. Kukulkan (fancy hotel & beach zone). WARNING: the beds are extremely hard although we found the pillows perfect.

Fine but unsafe area

Good hotel compared to the pricelevel. Unfortunately the hotel is located in an unsafe area. My wallet was stolen from me late at night but of course that's not the hotel's fault! So I had a nice stay at the hotel untill the incident took place.
