People hanging up on the phone when they realize that you don't speak French. I tried calling them multiple times but nothing changes. I would not recommend this hotel or the staff to anybody. Feel free to make your own impression through
Safe, quiet and friendly
This is a good hotel and well placed for all local amenities with a bus stop to the metro just outside and a supermarket next door. Although busy, it was never rushed or noisy and has the most convenient car parking facilities in the basement.
Clean but average and very overpriced.
Located in a quiet area, the room was clean and had everything we needed including a kettle. Unfortunately however the air conditioning did not work and pumped out hot air and opening the window meant you were kept awake by the ever changing sound of the other air conditioning or heating units. This meant we did not get a very good nights sleep. When we reported it to the staff at check out the next morning they told us we should have read the notice on how to use the air con, when we told them we had and it did not work they just shrugged. I suggested that this along with the blocked shower should be look at before the next guest arrived the response was another shrug. Sorry I did try for the next guests in Room 609. The only member of staff who appeared to enjoy his job and made our evening meal a pleasant experience was the gentleman in the restaurant, he was very helpful and attentive and deserves a medal.
Foreword: we were there with a group tour. If you go individually your experience may be different. Location. Right across the street there is a little bakery that sells absolutely delicious baguettes. Opens at 6:45 Tue-Sat, at 7:30 Sunday, closed Mondays. If you get out on the street and turn right there is a supermarket just a minute away. It is small, but has a good variety of selections at reasomable prices. Building. There is only one small elevator. It broke down more tha one of the days during our stay there. WiFi was good even on the 4th floor. However, it is unsecured. Corridors are well lit. Rooms. Room key cards have the room numbers displayed right on them. Not too safe. Tiny is the best descriptor for the room. Barely any place to move around the bed. Only 5 hangers, two small drawers, and no place to put suitcases. The bed and bed linen were O.K., but the pillow was thin. Have to add that extra pillow was promptly provided on request. Two pillows on one another gave the right thickness for sleeping. A shelf of about 6"X8" on both sides of the bed "substitutes" for night stand. There is a power outlet above each shelf. Lighting, including reading ligth on each side of the bed, was fine. Bathroom has a shower. The side of the shower stall where you get in is half open, so one has to be careful not to splatter the water. What is probably the most singificant negative about this hotel: the floor of the shower stall is slippery. This is especially so with the plate that covers the drain in the shower stall: you step on it and it slides out of its place. Hair dryer has two fan speeds, but there is only one heat setting with either of the two: hot. Housekeeping was excellent. The room was made up every day very nice. Meals were O.K. I am not giving a detailed review of the food, since the food was determined by the group tour. Two items to mention though. One, the drinks at dinner were quite expensive: E3.6 (about $4.20) for 2.5dl (about 8oz) of beer on the tap, for example. Consider that I paid E2.6 (about $3) for a Heineken at the CDG airport. Two, tap water was given free of charge at dinner. At dinner over the days several times I saw my fellow travelers get up and fetch a pitcher of water from the counter in the dining room near the entrance. Once I went to do the same and I got "yelled at" by the young woman behind the counter. Since I do not speak French I have no idea what exactly she said, but it sounded like a "no". Which, in itself, would have been O.K. What was not O.K.: seeing that I/we needed water she should have brought a pitcher of it to our table. That never happened. Otherwise service was good, both at the front desk and in the dining room.
Rock en Seine
Basic but very clean. Good breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would visit again. Great access to rail service and festival site. Good quiet area so no use if looking for night life etc. Suited us tho.
