We are weirdo's, we travel with a Chow Chow and a cat in a rucksack when I went to the bar and asked if it was okay that we sit outside I was met with a heartwarming 'of course it is', the servers were lovely and caring for both us and our pets, the food was excellent, the service fantastic and the staff wonderful. I could not recommend this place more, every person working here was a delight to encounter and the whole experience was wonderful. Thank you so much and keep doing it right.

Enjoyed our latest visit - we have been back several times and always enjoy it. Here we all had good dishes, in generous portion sizes accompanied with a good selection of wines. The serving staff are all friendly and enthusiastic and all the clients looked to be having a good time. Not quite strong enough for 5 stars but a very solid 4. Would have been good to have been given the (separate) pizza menu , though, as we would have gone for this for both the children and my wife. Beautiful setting on a glorious summer evening.

Lovely place to stay

This is a really lovely place to stay if your visiting the Cotswolds! The staff were outstanding going out of there way to make your stay enjoyable. Nothing seemed to much trouble. The evening meal outstanding well done to the chef! There are just a few little things that let it down. If your staying for more than a night be aware there is very little space in the rooms to put your stuff away so be prepared to live out of your suitcase. Lots of light bulbs needed replacing all over the place, and flickering lights in the bedroom was a little annoying. They also didn't have any hair shampoo but had conditioner.. Breakfast was cooked fresh but only served sourdough bread... We did ask for ordinary but for some reason they didn't do it. All these things were insignificant for a really lovely place with exceptional staff. Highly recommend

Beautiful lunch

We ate a very memorable lunch at the Wheatsheaf Inn yesterday. Amazing steak and ale pie, lovely fresh sea bream, mussels, beautiful side dishes. Desserts were very memorable too, Apple pie, sticky date pudding, the usual offerings but elevated to the next level. The pastry chef in the kitchen knows exactly what they’re doing! The service was friendly and professional, the atmosphere relaxed, decor charming. Children were made to feel welcome. We’ll be back! Ps try the bloody Mary’s.

Not sure about the hotel, didn’t stay here but ate lunch. Cod with rainbow chard, sea bream with samphire and the kids pizza were all delicious. The ingredients were all top notch, equivalent to Michelin starred restaurants I’ve eaten in. The cooking was a touch rustic in comparison, but totally suited the character of the place and up there with the best gastropubs I’ve tried. The staff were busy but attentive. Was the best meal of a long weekend!
