Nice resort with a magnificent view !

Overall a great resort, view is directly in front of Chiang Dao mountain and hence you can take really nice picture just from the lobby/Swimming pool of the hotel. Staff is friendly and helpful. Service is good. :) oh and remember to try their coffee !! Their coffee is really great with interesting “healthy 3-in-1 mix”x there is some room for improvement. Our room the wooden hut which is separated and have many insects in the bathroom especially! I understand that it’s close to nature, however I believe that there is more that the resort can do to help present insect from coming in. Tower is really thick and rough, a better quality hotel grade should be use instead. If you are worried about insect, it will be wiser to upgrade the room to the better tier.

Thankfully, due to the prevalence of excellent accommodation review websites such as Expedia and TripAdvisor, finding substandard properties is largely an issue of the past. In fact, in all my travelling experience I have only had cause to write a handful of negative reviews, however in the instance of our short stay at Wes Village I feel it necessary to give a full account of the lengthy catalogue of failings, in order to protect fellow travellers. The first point which I must raise are the misleading images portrayed of the accommodation on offer. Anyone who has perused the extensive catalogue of images of Wes Village will find depictions of a modern brick build property, U-shaped in plan, with a swimming pool at its heart. Interior shots focus on the plush modern decor and backdrop views across paddie fields. What is conveniently glossed over is the fact that three out of the five rooms are remote from this complex and at night guests are locked out of the modern development by heavy security gates. Our room was a dated timber cabin on stilts, which smelt of damp as we entered. There was very little space, scant flat lay-down surfaces, a deficit of plug sockets and we had issues with the cleanliness of the bathroom (used dental floss and previous occupants washing aids still in evidence). The widows all had heavy shutters which were ill-fitting and difficult to open and the veranda view was of a close bank of foliage, a stagnant drainage ditch and just a glimpse of crop fields beyond. English is claimed to be spoken on the website but was not, making check in very difficult (staff initially absent and didn’t seem to be expecting us). We were also unable to express our concerns about the room as we could not be understood. As well as being absent upon our arrival, there seemed to be long periods when no one was present (e.g. we had a room kettle but no mugs, and no one was around to rectify this). Another major concern was that of safety. As explained above, we were locked out of the main complex by a heavy metal gate and were very close to the public highway. On the night of our stay a police car, with flashing lights, arrived at 23.30 and entered the main compound. We have no idea why, but it was rather disconcerting. Much more worryingly, an intruder entered our room at 07.35 in the morning. I was out bird watching and my wife was alone in the room. Upon verbal challenge the intruder silently retreated, but my wife was most upset by the incident and was still in bed at the time. Again, we were unable to feed back on the issue due to lack of English speaking staff. Feedback to the owner, Arjan Wes, was made via Expedia on the same night as our arrival. In his written response Mr Wes made no attempt to resolve any issues or gave any expression of sympathy, instead giving an abrupt, sarcastic and personally insulting response, requesting that we should check out of his property (and suggesting that we should learn to speak Thai). Yet another issue was the major building works ongoing on the main property, with a huge pile of building materials being located outside the front entrance. The following morning the workforce arrived and noisy building work was ongoing from 08.00. Dust from grinding/cutting work was blowing over the roof and into the pool area, and loud hammering and grinding could constantly be heard. Builders regularly took cigarette breaks beside the pool whilst my wife swam, which we considered to be unacceptable behaviour. Had our experience at Wes Village been befallen by just one of the above issues, and had Mr Wes been empathetic to our cause, I would not have been compelled to draft such a lengthy review. In the circumstances, however, I am compelled to draw attention to all of the many failings of this establishment, in order that future visitors may benefit from our brief but unfortunate experience and that the owners have the opportunity to act upon our feedback.

The view is breathtaking, the rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated. We spent two nights watching star lit nights. Breakfast was unique and delicious. A catch though!! They only have 5 rooms, two in the front by the pool as show in the picture. The remaining 3 rooms are located at the back with no view. For us if not the front two room it won’t be worth staying.

I'd prefer to keep this a secret, but...

It's a wonderful place. It's a stylish, chic hotel and staying there is a bit like visiting your poshest friend's country place. It's a superbly relaxed home-from-home with upmarket, spacious suites. Aim for one of the two by the pool and stare into space over the mountains. Good dinner, wine and breakfast. Great value (you'd pay 10 times this in Europe for the room, location and hospitality. But, let's keep it a secret, eh? Go there!!

We found this beautiful place by coincident since we were in the area and looked on-line for a place to stay. It is simply breath taking when you arrive. The view is just stunning. We received a very warm welcome and got escorted to our little house. The accommodation is simply amazing and very clean. The décor is very warm and inviting and the shower has a good and constant water pressure (which is rare in Thailand). We got shown around a little bit since we were interested in the other room types. Every single accommodation is beautiful and cozy. The breakfast is very good and served fresh. The most interesting experience is that the guest is having their meal in the house of the owners. Basically, you sit in their house as a guest and enjoy a fantastic hospitality. In the main building is a very nice pool to relaxed. As far I am concerned also lunch and dinner is served there which is very convenient because the location is kind of remote. We will try this next time… long story short. Go there and enjoy amazing Thai hospitality and a breathtaking view! Thank you very much for the great time
