The exterior of the motel was very tidy and inviting. The front desk person was nice. It was a quiet location. We had two rooms, one with one bed the other with two. The room was much too small for two beds, your could barely get around them. The beds were clean and comfortable. We had a problem with the shower but it was quickly attended too. The downside was that the vinyl floors which should be easy to keep clean, were very dirty. The parking lot is fairly fresh asphalt and it is obvious that the floors are not mopped on a regular basis . Our feet were black.

As someone else noted, the floors need to be mopped between guests. We tracked up the light colored tile in the bathroom going in from the bedroom rather quickly. And after showering, our feet were immediately dirty from the floor. Yikes! Other than that, the manager/owner was really nice and accomodating. The WiFi was decent and bed comfortable. If you want to visit Sierra Nevada Brewing (and we did), it is less than a mile up the road, and Mulberry Station Brewery is about two blocks away. When leaving, Highway 99 is just past Sierra Nevada, so all was handy.

Pro: courteous and accommodating staff, comfortable bed, adjustable room temp, parking in front of your room, updated flooring. Con: spotty WiFi, floors were dirty. Only gave 4 stars because of the floors. Hubby and I both took morning showers and then packed up to leave. When we went to put our shoes on , the bottom of our feet were filthy. A quick wet wipe between stays is recommended...so is bringing a pair of slippers

Decent Budget Stay

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Rodeway Inn for a night while on a short road trip to Chico. Check-in and check-out were quick. The lobby was closed, so breakfast wasn't available, which was fine. The property didn't seem particularly busy, and parking was easy. We found the room to be clean and functional. The bed was firmer than I like but typical of this type of motel. The bedspread looked old, and simply removing it would have helped the room seem more updated. The sheets were lower quality, so I slept hot even with the air conditioning on. My gf fared better since she sleeps cool. The bathroom seemed clean and was mostly functional. However, I found the toilet to be oddly small. Perhaps their contractor got a discount on kids' toilets? Not a big deal for a one-night stay, but I wouldn't stay here for an extended period. 3.5 stars overall, rounds up to a 4 since the room was a good value.

We stayed here for one night on a road trip. The room was small but clean. Bed was a bit hard in my opinion, but the pillows were good. The service was great, both the man who checked us in and the man who checked us out were friendly and professional. Our favorite thing about this hotel was the coffee machine in the lobby. It is an "automat" style machine where you can determine whether you want the coffee light, medium, or bold and regular or decaf. It is really just an instant coffee machine, but because coffee is produced on the spot, it tastes very fresh. We had coffee there twice in our short stay. We did not like the creamers they had, so the front desk brought us fresh milk upon request. That was very nice! One caveat about staying here, especially for the business traveler, is that the internet does not work very well. We have found this to be the case generally at Rodeway Inns. I would recommend this hotel to the budget-oriented traveler. A lot of the hotels in Chico are expensive so if you are looking to save money, this property is a good choice.
