We stayed near the back door which was next to a truck stop which we didn’t see before and went to walk our dogs the back door was unlocked since the key card box was missing, lots of trash, broken windows taped up with duct tape. I wouldn’t stay there again
Like Sleeping on a Runway
We were given room 119 with only a sidewalk separating us from Hwy 287. All night big rigs roared by continuously literally shaking the room. The traffic noise was unbearable. This room should not be rented without a warning and some ear plugs. I have stayed in other properties in Childress and never encountered this problem before. I am not a light sleeper and this location is unacceptable.
Our first room was infested with gnats. We asked to move to another room across the hall It also was infested with gnats. They are attracted to light It was gross to see them crawling and flying around. We paid for the room in advance ans it was not refundable BIG MISTAKE! Also, the windows in both rooms were severely cracked. There are better places to stay in Childress.
Nice large rooms. The staff was very nice. Nice in and out access. Breakfast was standard
Nice big rooms with refrigerators, microwaves and coffee makers.. The staff is very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. We had a room facing the main road and it was still very quiet. The free breakfast was fresh daily.
Beetles and horrible internet
We were passing through Childress on the way home and booked this hotel thinking it was the one we stayed in 10 days previously. We booked online, agreeing that it couldn't be cancelled. That was a mistake. We got there around 7 p.m. and were given a room on the 2nd floor. As we headed to the stairs, I saw what at first I thought was a roach but then I realized it was a big beetle. We put our things upstairs and went to dinner. When we came back there were at least 20 beetles crawling all over the stairway. I went to the front desk and told the person working and she said, "yes it's that time of year. They're horrible and I sweep them away and they just come back." I asked for extra towels to put under our door so they couldn't crawl in the wide space there. It was hard to see them all on the carpet because it's black and brown and the beetles are black, but you could sure hear the crunch if you stepped on one. I expect the place I'm staying to be bug free, as the other hotel we stayed in down the road had been. After going back upstairs, we found it hard to connect to their internet and once connected, it barely worked. Again, I'm paying to have internet access. When we checked out, we found we'd also been charged another $1.50 for a safe we didn't need and never used. I would never stay at this Quality Inn again. We've had excellent luck at the others but I would recommend staying away from this one unless you like paying for no internet and crunching across the carpet on beetles. The only reason I didn't give it one star is the bed was comfortable and breakfast was ok, although I worried about them preparing food with all those beetles around.
