OK for one night's stay.

Stayed 4 nights but very overpriced. Bathroom only serviced once despite leaving door sign out to service each day. Had to supply own toilet rolls and request shower gel refills and clean towels. Bathroom bin only emptied once. Clean when we arrived. Breakfast minimal...no fruit options offered and granola in pot was stale. Hit and miss if you had beans. I sausage, I half tomatoe, 3 bits of mushroom and two eggs. No hash browns and garnished with a bit of parsley to make it look pretty A piece of toast offered with just enough butter. Room was comfy and Bathroom very nice with power shower over bath. Beds comfy as were pillows. You had to go into corridor to use the shared fridge with other guests. Room was narrow but adequate but does not to justify the asking price and did not meet our expectations. Overall very disappointed. Room was overlooked by rear beer garden and felt uncomfortable being watched by customers. Garden had a DIY seating area and beer shack, not what we expected. When the bar was open from Wednesdays it was too busy to enjoy or book a meal and no where local to dine so bring along some pot noodles. Some staff were very friendly but when we arrived after 5 on 1st day we were not made welcome by the gentlemen who wanted to hurry off. As a result you are given pub keys to let yourselves in as it's not manned after 5.30/6 pm. Location was very quiet with very little to do but we used it as a base and went on day trips to other towns. OK for one night but if you stay longer you are forgotten about which was a shame. Therefore we won't be recommending this place to our friends and families unless improvements are made and prices reduced to reflect.

Perfect weekend break

Just back from a lovely 2 night stay at The Crown Inn. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our beautiful room (Great Tew) which had everything we could need, was very well thought out and made for a relaxing break. We had several drinks in the cosy bar throughout our stay where staff and locals were very friendly. We also had a delicious meal on our first night. The breakfasts were fantastic...homemade granola was so tasty and the eggs benedict is probably the best I've ever had. I'm so sorry we didn't catch the name of the Aussie (I think?) lady who was fantastic throughout.

Stayed overnight with friends on a DBB basis. Lovely old pub full of character. Rooms were smallish but quaint and spotlessly clean. Bathrooms contained some very nice toiletries! Both dinner and breakfast the next day were excellent with the venison pie worthy of special mention. Good range of craft beer and a decent wine list. Orange juice at breakfast also especially good. A most enjoyable stay and hopefully we will be back.

Ideal Break

Great location . Warm welcome by staff and locals alike. Excellent restaurant food with a good choice of wines to match. Ideal place to stay if you are planning a short break that includes a visit to Oxford. Dark skies are a bonus for us City types. One for the returns and recommend list...

Don't often stay in Pub Inns, but having scoured the internet found the Crowns website, which was very well presented and easy to use. Checking in was easy and staff very friendly. The room was well appointed and cosy with a superb bathroom all very very clean and easily usable. More like a 5 star hotel! We also ate in the pub and the meal was excellent and agin the staff very efficient and friendly. Slept well and had a superb breakfast. The pub has the owners superb artwork all over the walls and rooms and it adds colour and is a lovely touch. would highly recommend the Crown and we will be back!
