Beautiful boutique hotel about a mile from the Coba ruins

Avaliou em 20 de março de 2022

We spent two nights here with our kids. We had a two queen villa that had its own plunge pool. The beds were very comfortable, and the bathroom was so beautiful with a huge walk in shower that the kids turned into their own slip and slide. The resort is quiet. There are only 5-6 villas, and they weren't all occupied. Most guests only stay for a night or two as the area isn't developed for tourists (a good thing, but it makes for few dining options in the area). There's a large central pool, and but there isn't much "to do" at the resort other than eat and drink and lounge. You can borrow bicycles to visit the local cenotes or the small town and Coba ruins, or you can walk the mile into town, but that's about it for entertainment. I think we would have enjoyed this place pre-kids, but with young kids, they wanted more stuff to do. The quality of the food at the resort is good. Breakfasts are simple but tasty and included in the price of the room. Lunch and dinner are excellent, but they are pricier than similar meals in town. We really enjoyed the guacamole as well as the Maya chocolate service for dessert. If you don't plan on driving, I believe the hotel is the best resource for transportation. We paid an airport taxi $200 to take us to Aldea Coba, but the resort arranged for a (much nicer) shuttle from Coba to Playa Mujeres for about $120.

Magical Experience

Aldea Cobá provided exceptional service. The staff was super friendly and attentive. The meals prepared by Chef José Mauncio at the Pischan restaurant were amazingly delicious. The room was spacious and comfortable- the grounds were lush and peaceful - knowing that this boutique hotel is located on Mayan land made it truly magical- a sac-be is an ancient road built by the Mayans and there is one situated in the rear of the hotel-wow!!!

Relaxing stay and delicious food!

It was my second visit to Aldea Cobá, the first one was by myself and this one was with friends. Both visits were amazing. We were looking for a place to escape to nature and just relax and this small boutique hotel was the right one. Since you arrive you feel safe for all the safety protocols that they have implemented for this pandemic times. They sanitize all your luggage, take your temperature, wear a mask at all times and offer you a hand sanitizer. The rooms are very spacious, clean and with a relaxing vibe that you're gonna love it. This time we stayed at one of their Villas, which has its own pool and a small balcony where you can have a coffee or breakfast surrounded by nature, it was gorgeous! On the other hand, the service was so warm that you felt at home, from Victor at the front desk to Mauricio and Juan Luis at the restaurant, the service was top notch. They have an online concierge (via whatsapp) so as soon as you arrive they send you a very warm welcome and all the info about the WiFi connection, breakfast schedule and you can order breakfast through this app. The first time I went I did my home office from there and the internet connection was good, this time because of the previous weather (days before was pouring) the WiFi was slow but we didn't mind, we went to relax. They serve Starbuks and their Mixology is really good, they also have one restaurant called Pischan, where offers Yucatecan Food, but as well have other things, for example for breakfast they have eggs, chilaquiles, fruit, pancakes, waffles, omelets, everything was really delicious. We tried one of the special menus, the one called "íconos del Mestizaje" . It was a five-course meal where the Chef blends the Yucatecan flavors and culture with some elements that the foreigners brought to the Mayan gastronomy. The first time was a Lime Soup, and It was delicious, one of the best I had ever tried. It had a very good consistency, the flavor of the lime was present all the time and it was accompanied by tortilla chips. The second course was the "Kibbeh" . This course was our favorite, this dish was a contribution of Lebanese food to Yucatecan gastronomy, it is a delicious fried wheat dough filled with ground meat accompanied by red onion and garnished with sour orange. A must if you visit Pischan and Aldea Coba! For sure we will be back for our third stay!

Wonderful hotel, rooms, ambiance, food, staff first class. Wife commented that this place was one of those places that you will remember the rest of your life. Was the best food we had on our whole trip, Starbucks coffee. Robert Wier
