Beach Holiday at ES TRENC in uncomplicated/easy going Hotel
Small, uncomplicated Hotel(***), simple but clean in good location of the South of the island and close to beautiful ES TRENC Beach located in the small harbour village of Colonia St. Jordi with many different restaurants and a nice small port and promenade.
Good value for money
It was a bit of a surprise to arrive at the Bluewater hotel as it doesn’t look very much from the outside. However inside the hotel is fine. The rooms are a good size and are kept spotlessly clean. It was also great to have air conditioning as I arrived during a heatwave where the evenings were very hot. There are TV’s in the rooms but no English channels. Wifi is free around the lobby and dining areas. The hotel meals were good - though limited in terms of variety - and the dining area is quite nice. There is the small “Platja d’es Port” beach about 5 minutes walk away to the south and the larger Es Dolc beach a bit further along. There are also the Es Peregons beaches and the famous Es Trenc beach about a 40 to 45 minute walk away in the other direction. The Bluewater hotel staff were very courteous and friendly. The hotel is close to an international swim centre and may in fact be affiliated to it. So you do get quite a few international young teenagers from the “swimming camp” staying and/or eating in the hotel. For the most part they were well behaved, but some of them did get a bit loud and excitable (as teenagers do), forcing me to change my room after the first night. Luckily it was then fine after that. Despite the teenagers, the hotel in general is quite quiet and felt very safe. Other guests were a mixture of nationalities but mainly German and Spanish couples and families. There is no evening entertainment and being nestled within a surburb, it actually felt quite suburban. Colonia de Sant Jordi itself is a quiet resort with not very much in the way of night clubs or a noisy night life. There are however bars and restaurants around, some of which have live music. I enjoyed my stay at Bluewater. My only gripe is that I think the hotel rooms could do with a fridge as it would have been nice to be able to store water and other drinks in my room for a few hours without them turning warm. But maybe that is asking too much of a budget hotel. In summary I would the say Bluewater Hotel is good value for money with friendly staff and well kept rooms and I would definitely return.
Peaceful hotel for a relaxing holiday
We found this hotel on another website and booked a week away for the beginning of August, half board. Neither my friend or I were looking for a rowdy 'party' holiday and we predominantly chose the hotel due to the mention of 'sound proof rooms'. Thankfully the hotel was quiet as the rooms weren't actually sound proof (which we came to find out when we realised we could hear the man in the room next door everytime he used the bathroom). Although the breakfast and dinner options were fairly limited and the food itself was fine, some of the staff were impatient and/or unhelpful. We'd been given a key in an envelope at the point of checking in without being told what it was for. We assumed it was for the safe but it didn't fit. When we enquired we were told it was for the front door which would be locked after a certain time in the evening. The domestic staff were all friendly and would greet us every morning in passing and the Hotel Manager himself was also friendly and chatty. The hotel was surprisingly close to the beach and the shops were probably a five minute walk away. We only spent one day at the hotel pool just because we prefer to be at the beach, but it was very quiet and the pool area itself was tidy. There was no offer of evening entertainment, which suited us just fine, but as the hotel was close to the beach, restaurants and bars it wouldn't take long to find a placed to be entertained if you wanted to. Despite the few negatives mentioned I would definitely return to Bluewater and even as a solo traveller.
Relax
