SO Noisy
My husband surprised me with a night away to relax for Valentine’s Day. When we checked in to our room, the electronic lock wasn’t working so our door would not lock if we left the room. It took them about an hour to fix the issue. Not the end of the world and they were polite about it. What happened the rest of the evening/night is what really made us miserable. Our room was on the third floor facing the outdoor heated pool. There were two families also staying at the hotel that had planned birthday parties for their children. There was screaming outside for seven hours straight. My husband had packed our speaker for music so we tried to drown out the screams-but it was relentless. I know the difference between inside and outside voices and I know how excited kiddos are for birthday parties and especially pool parties. But this wasn’t just excited pool party fun screams at a level 10/10. The kids screamed at a “Somebody is being murdered” level of about 17/10 FOR SEVEN HOURS STRAIGHT. Even being on the third floor there was no buffer from the noise and it filled our room no matter how loud we had the TV or our speaker. Throughout the night we heard the conversations from the rooms on both sides of our room, too. Once the pool closed we were able to finally try to relax. Then the fire alarms went off in our room at 3:30 in the morning. We hopped up and started getting our coats to go outside in negative four degree weather and all of a sudden the alarm stopped. We figured one of the wild child birthday kids had pulled the alarm or something and we headed back to sleep. Then fire alarms started going off in other rooms one at a time for probably another hour or two. The rooms down the hall still could be heard from our room. These were the legitimate business fire alarms that basically melt your face off. At 7:30 the pool must have opened because I started to hear screaming at the pool again. Thankfully it only lasted for about five minutes this time. I am a wild child myself and so are my kidlets. If kids weren’t having fun in a heated pool birthday party in 0 degrees, it would be a huge bummer. It was just a terrible situation to be there trying to relax in a night away. It felt like we were trying to have a romantic night away in the middle of a Chuck E Cheese. If I were ever planning a hotel birthday party I’m sure it would probably be fun, but if I ever needed to stay in Columbia again or if any family or friends visit, I would not recommend this noisy in every possible way hotel.
Perfection
My grandson and I had a one night stay. We had such a fun time. He swam, we enjoyed every aspect of the theme suite chosen for us. Very clean, Very comfortable. I slept so well, the bed was perfection, the jetted tub with TV viewing was an indulgent gem for my grandson. WE can't wait to return. One night or 7 this is the place to rest and recover. Enjoy
More than just a hotel
I came to Columbia for sad family reasons and I simply needed a mental break and sleep to reset my soul. I only had a few hours and treated myself to a room at the hotel. First off, the hotel is incredibly warm and inviting. It left nothing to be desired. I checked in with Matt S., who was professional and very accommodating. I spoke a little about why I was there and that is where I went from simply a customer to a guest. He went above and beyond and added greatly to my healing experience . I know this isn’t your typical review, but having the right staff can make all the difference in the world. The rooms are spacious and wonderfully decorated. The hotel is an absolute must if you’re traveling to Columbia. Thank you Matt S. for your kindness and kudos to the hotel for staffing it with exceptional customer service personnel. I will return and recommend it to anyone based solely on Matt S. and his service.
Great start to 2021
Thanks to Matt Lawrence, Gen Mgr, and his team. This was our first time to stay as guests at this property. They had covid-19 protocols in force. They provided a grab-and-go breakfast. Wish I could have had their regular hot breakfast, maybe next time. The check-in and check-out was very easy. Our final bill was perfect. The room was spacious and immaculate. Everything worked great. The bathroom was fully stocked and very clean. This must have been a special rate of $99. We were going to bring our small dachshund but did not. This room was set up so we could walk out into a green area to walk our dog if necessary. This place was pet friendly and would only charge $25, which is reasonable. We look forward to staying there again after covid-19 is under control.
