Birthday break at the Quay

We have visited the quay many times now, we booked over the phone with Lynda to ensure we were likely to get our preferred rooms executive ground floor so you can watch the estuary ebb & flow & see Conwy Castle.
There is plenty of parking on site, on arrival Sean checked us in who was very good & recognised us from previous visits.
The rooms were the ones we had asked for 234 & 235 which had a few updates since our last visit. The rooms are a good size with a sofa to sit & watch the tv on, fridge & a good size bathroom.
Another nice touch was a birthday card in my father’s room from the hotel.
We had pre-booked a slot in the pool which is a nice size for swimming, a sauna, steam room & a spa bath, this is all very good & one of the reasons that we like the quay.
The even managed to produce nice weather for our stay which was an added bonus for this time of year.
The check out was also good by the girl on reception & as we had prepaid there was only the evening meal to pay for which there is a separate review on.
The Quay is one of our favourite hotels that we visited many times & highly recommend, it was just let down by the evening meal.

Visited today with my elderly father for lunch. Service was slow and seating felt cramped.
Batter on the haddock was over cooked so wasn't eaten. Pasta dish was nice, just nice.
Dishes not cleared and still on the table after we went to pay. Mentioned to the staff that the fish batter was overcooked....just said they were sorry.
Such a shame.

We’ve just spent two nights in room 268, which overlooks the estuary, via patio doors and balcony. Simply stunning. The cleanest room we’ve ever stayed in. Food great, all staff lovely, easy parking. Faultless. Not cheap, but worth it. Would recommend to all.
Not as good as it used to be

1. The rooms are looking tired now and dated.
2. After retuning to the hotel after a walk, we went to the lounge / bar area. Told it was full. It did not seem right that a hotel resident had nowhere to sit except the bedroom!!
Asked to speak to the manager. Was told the person I'm speaking to is the hospitality manager and there was no one higher than her. I didn't accept this and finally another manager came. Asked how can a hotel like this have nowhere for a resident to sit apart from the bedroom.
Surprise surprise, a table was found immediately !
The hospitality manger needs some training. What she should have said is " just give me a few moments until a table becomes free".
The whole stressful process took 15 minutes by which time there were 5 empty tables.
Ordered a cappuccino at breakfast, no problem. Ordered a 2nd one, told they are now too busy ( same hospitality manager ). After complaining, 2nd coffee came
Nothing but unnecessary stress, will not be returning. Plenty of other hotels around.
Be warned, bedroom doors slam all night

The staff have been helpful and friendly the majority abiding by Corvid rules. The breakfast is served at table and is good quality likewise the bar menu is comprehensive. I think the restaurant is a little expensive.
Rooms and bathroom is modern and well appointed.
However on returning late afternoon having enjoyed a day in the mountains our room Had not been serviced and would not serviced as house keeping had closed for the day. The Duty Manager supplied clean towels.
Beware this can happen to you
