Myself and my partner were lucky to stay for a 2 night break at this hotel. From the moment we walked through the door the personal service given by all the staff was exceptional. Shashank the owner could not do enough for us giving us recommendations of where to visit in Castle Douglas. We were lucky enough to to book the junior suite which was so big clean and fresh the views from the window over fields was lovely. Food was amazing from breakfast to lunch and an evening meal. My partner and I ate in one of the pods in the evening which was lovely so warm.

Just back from a lovely 2 night stay at the hotel. This place is so peaceful we were lucky to book the junior suite which over looks the fields. Shashank and his tram could not do enough for us. Food was out standing from breakfast to sunday lunch and of course the evening meal. I would highly recommend this place to any locals or travellers looking for a accommodation and food and drink.

I feel quite sad writing this review but feel I wanted to share our experience. We booked Ernespie for our Christmas Day dinner December 2022. When we first arrived and were in our seats we thought it was going to be a good experience. Unfortunately that's where it ended. We received our starters and 2 of the orders were wrong...the bruschetta come with Prawns on after asking for no Prawns. These were taken back to the kitchen and by the time they returned, with mushrooms on which wasn't stated on the menu but we scraped them off and ate the bread, the rest of the table had finished their starters. The beer that was served to the table was off..tasted like vinegar and after pointing this out the gents were served with other pints but still tasted funny..so no beer for anyone. The starters were cleared and we waited for our soup. After 30 mins still no soup but then our main course arrived. We said we hadn't had our soup yet which didn't go down well with the chef who had had to come form the kitchen to serve it. The service was shocking, 2 young girls and a man for all the tables that were booked is not acceptable. We didn't want to wait any longer so accepted the main and forgot about the soup. The main was disappointing..frozen aunt Bessie's roasties, frozen mash and frozen veg, 1 pig in blanket and hardly any gravy...very bad for a meal that cost £47.50 a head. After mains were cleared we waited 45 mins for our desert. On asking the waitress if they would be any longer the answer was...we are waiting on lots of food coming out and walked away. Eventually after 1 hour the deserts arrived. They also were disappointing. The chocolate lave cake was inedible. Overcooked and it was like someone had dropped 2 pots of dark chocolate powder into it...it tasted so bitter. We decided not to wait for tea and mince pies as the service had left alot to be desired throughout the meal. When the owner asked how it was whilst he was talking to another table...the only time we seen him while were there I explained what had happened and that it wasn't very good. I asked for a refund of the soup we didn't get and all that was refunded to us was £10...for 8 bowls of soup. That doesn't add up. Surely should have been refunded all costs for 8 soups. Very disappointing..especially for a Christmas Day dinner. Unfortunately will not return because of this.

Great hotel with a personal touch

Stayed for a night whilst travelling between N Ireland & Newcastle. A lovely old country house complete with original wood panelling and a log fire burning in the grate all set in large grounds in a very quiet countryside location. Our bedroom was large with a good-size comfortable bed and all the items one would need - and if not, the friendly manager would be more than happy to help. Dinner (and breakfast) were both good - I'd heartily recommend the curry. THis isn't one of those ridiculously over-priced country house hotels; but has the feeling of a warm cosy quiet place with very friendly staff who will look after you.

Amazing hotel with wonderful staff and a beautiful room! Our dinner was incredible and the service impeccable The butter chicken is the best I have had - flavourful and perfectly spiced and as genuine and authentic as we hoped for Great hotel. Great staff and owner . Beyond great food We will be returning for sure!
