Frigobar Falso !
Location was key
The hotel rooms are decorated nicely the hotel is really cosy, it has a roof top with a jacuzzi good breakfast and dinner and bike hire, we stayed here as was it in between two ferry stops we travelled around the lake by ferry and bike
We stayed for a shorty break at this hotel. It is central to get to Sirmione and Rivoltella and travel was very easy but the hotel was disappointing. The reception staff are not at all friendly and almost grumbled when you asked any questions. One lady was quite rude and barely smiled. The breakfast is plentiful but vegetarian options are limited for example not much selection of fruits or yogurts. The rooms are OK , comfortable and clean but tired. We chose this hotel because it had a spa and indoor swimming pool but these did not meet our expectations. Pool was not heated and the sauna a small cupboard with a heater. So overall - I would not go back and definitely would not recommend it. Lake Garda, however, is beautiful and so spent as much time as possible out and away from the hotel.
Perfect stay, super location, with friendly & helpful staff
This hotel is a little gem on Lake Garda. It’s a small hotel, (literally across the road from the lake, where you can swim from a pebble beach), in a quiet area, far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist traps, but within walking distance of everything you might want. The rooms were clean, (a little old-fashioned) with a comfortable bed and good sized balcony. There is a covered swimming pool (unheated, so bit cold!) and a roof top hot tub jacuzzi alongside sun loungers and a shower to cool off. (And those views of the lake.) Desenzano is about a 25 minute walk away, and from there you can get boat trips across the lake or from the train station go to Verona, Milan, Brescia etc. There is also a bus service into Desenzano, Sirmione and Verona, with the bus stop just a few yards from the hotel. Very local to the hotel in Rivoltella, are many bars and restaurants, (we never had a bad meal) as well as a Sunday market. The breakfast had a good choice of fruit, cereals, croissants, waffles, cold meats, cooked eggs, bacon, sausage, bread and bread rolls with fruit juice choices and coffee machine. (Tea bags available too). You can opt to stay half board, but even just B&B, you can still eat in the restaurant between 7-9pm. The food and service is excellent, and very reasonably priced. (The beef strips with rocket salad was incredible!) Which brings me on to the staff. So friendly & helpful and they all speak some English, but absolutely go out of their way to ensure you are looked after. My husband was taken ill and had to be ambulanced into the local hospital in Desenzano, where he was admitted for four days. We subsequently missed our flight home, but the staff rallied round and really looked after me. I was told I could stay on in the same room for as long as necessary and each night when I returned from the hospital, they were attentive at dinner and checking if I needed anything. Even the cleaners were sympathetic! Marika & Claudia on reception went above and beyond helping with printing forms as demanded by travel insurance and even the the young man (blond hair who I really only saw on our last day) phoned his mum to buy a hot water bottle for my husband to help relieve the pain on the day we eventually flew home. (We did buy a hot water bottle from the pharmacy, which conveniently is a few minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel staff were happy to refil it for us too.) I cannot thank the staff enough. They helped make a really stressful time, so much easier. This hotel is wonderful. Book it, stay here; you won’t regret it.
A small friendly hotel
This small hotel near lake Garda is a perfect base to explore Desenzano and Sermione. The decor of the rooms is a bit out dated, but they were clean and we had a balcony that all 3 of us could sit on. Myself, husband and 11 year old daughter stayed for one week. The hotel has a pool and small gym on ground floor and a jacuzzi on the roof top terrace. The hotel is situated on a busy main road (once you are inside the hotel you cannot hear it), there is a zebra crossing just outside hotel which takes you to a small road that goes right to the shore of the lake. There is a small beach there from which you can swim in the lake. There are also walks along the lake from there. Also a short walk along from the hotel there are bus stops which take you either to Desenzano or Sermione. We had half board. The breakfast was usual fruits, cereals, cold meats, cheese, selection of breads and croissants etc. The evening meals were outstanding for a small hotel. You are allowed to chose from either the set menu for the day or chose from “a la carte”, or you can mix and match. We found the food to be an excellent standard. The air con in the room was free. The safe in the room was free. The WiFi in the room and throughout the hotel was free and with good connectivity. We even took advantage of the free bike hire from the hotel. All of the staff spoke good English. They were friendly, helpful and gave good information. We arrived by train so did not have a car. However there was car parking available under the hotel. Think you may have to book in advance.
