Confortável e limpo
Chegamos no hotel às 13h, mas o checkin só é feito a partir das 16h. Deixamos a bagagem guardada e fomos explorar a cidade.
Great situation. Great breakfast
We stayed for two nights with daughter and her young boys. Great situation opposite the castle and a short walk to town centre. Basic, comfortable, clean rooms. Friendly staff and great buffet breakfast. Recommended.
Pleasant but not everything works
The Hotel du Chateau in Dinan is well situated. The main entrance is situated on the corner of a very busy road and you will soon learn that access is easier and safer via the car park at the rear. Reserved parking is 10 Euros per day, but well worth the money. Public parking and more so hotel parking in France are often an obstacle courses, however, parking at this hotel is reasonably accessible and well laid out. The hotel is in good condition and seemed to have been recently refurbished. Staff were friendly and multi-tasked. We had a room at the rear of the hotel on the first floor with a small private courtyard. The room was small, reasonably furnished but dimly lit. Apparently, the room is one of only two which have bathrooms. This would have been good, if the bath functioned correctly. At the end of my first bath I could not open the plug to drain the bath. Eventually, with the aid of a penknife I levered it open. I reported the fault to reception “I thought it had been repaired, it will be repaired today.” was the response. When we returned it had not been repaired. I reported it again, but again it was not repaired. Reception said “To be honest it will not be repaired until next Tuesday i.e. 5 days away. There was a reasonable range of food at breakfast. The only hot offering was a boiled egg, that is if the egg boiler worked. After 7 minutes the eggs were still raw. Back to reception where I was greeted with a look that said “The Englishman cannot boil an egg.” The public areas are very small and there is no restaurant. During our stay we ate at Restaurant Longueville and two other places – see review. You will need to read all the reviews to decide whether this hotel is for you.
Comfortable if bland hotel
Our room was on the first floor, overlooking the gardens, so it was quiet. Although everything had obviously been recently renovated, it had been done so as to render the room and bathroom completely without character. Not a single picture on the wall and the bathroom, with its huge shower, did not seem to possess a fan and there was no way of opening the window. It was beige, beige, beige....But for 2 nights it was OK. The breakfast was average, with neither the bread nor the croissants being really crisp and fresh, but there was enough choice and the coffee was good. We didn't have dinner there, but both the dining room and menu looked pretty good. All in all, a good place to stay, so would recomment.
2 night stay
Good quality hotel within walking distance to the beautiful town. Small double room but had a small private balcony. Helpful staff, good ambience, good breakfast with good assortment, friendly staff, secure parking. Local restaurants close by.
