We ate here twice this week. Very good service and the food was excellent both times. The staff recommended a few dishes and wines and were spot on. Nice and quiet even though you are near the main street of restaurants etc.. Try the mussels, pecorinni cheese, tuna and swordfish.
Great location- basic hotel
Definitely a hotel trying to regain some stature. The receptionist was excellent- helping with times of boat trips to the blue grotto (a must) and advising on parking. The room had a balcony though the view was obscured by a tree. A/c was fine as was the size of the room. It was a standard room. The 4/f terrace is awful. Not sure why they don’t try and sort it out. We asked for wine glasses and at first there was some reluctance but as we explained that it would be rather nice to enjoy our balcony breeze, they softened. There is a feeling of counting the pennies here - the bacon is carefully served at breakfast for example - a fact I didn’t mind as otherwise it was very good. I noted this annoyed my husband though! We had a good rate for the hotel - around AUD $160 which is fair but above that I would be wary. I note the only hotel rooms presently on offer were coming up at over AUD $300 which would be way overpriced. All in all - an OK hotel needing updating but as long as the pricing reflects this, the location is priceless.
3 night stay in June
The room was quite basic and functionable; quite old fashioned. Room had no balcony - only a very small window so was quite dark. Air conditioning work well. No where to hang towels and swimwear to dry. The bed was quite large - two twin beds pushed together. bed was hard and the pillows were just ridiculously hard - literally like a sandbag. There is a roof terrace which overlooks the beautiful bay. Unfortunately this was dirty. Cigarette ends in the plant pots and food and ash under the sunbeds. The sunbeds were quite dangerous as they were broken with rough broken edges sticking out.breakfast consisted of fresh fruit, breads, cold meats, cereals, yoghurt (awful reconstituted), bacon and egg, fruit juices and coffee (awful). beware you have to pay for any speciality coffees. The food runs out quickly so you need to get there on time. Dinner is chosen at breakfast time. Our experience of the evening meal was not good. We left hungry each evening. We went into the town and bought a snack after dinner. Drinks are not included in the half board. Pasta is on the menu every evening in some form. Being in Italy i expected better quality italian food. The pasta was hard, plain, chewy and generally uninteresting. Various meat or fish dishes on offer and a small dessert. Dinner consists of three very small courses with a choice of 2 options for the first two courses. I noticed that the table cloths are not changed daily. Some were dirty with food on and when this was noticed by staff they were simply turned over. Parking is difficult in the town. We had to park a distance away at times, but we did expect this and it wasn't really a problem. Plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. We would not consider staying at this hotel again.
