Big free parking nearby. Walking distance to city center. Friendly staff. Room was ok, no more no less. Same for breakfast. Don't expect a big buffet with eggs and sausages, but there were croissants, bread, corn flakes, yoghurt... everything you need. Would recommend for few days, not if you need luxury.
Best Housekeeping Ever!

I haven't traveled much in France for many years so my 4-night stay in Le Gayant might be very typical everywhere in the region but I was pleasantly surprised. I stayed there with Ards Ladies Hockey team (Irish champions) during their European Indoor Hockey tournament. At first glance the hotel seemed quite normal for its price range. The reception staff were pleasant and the rooms were simple but comfortable. What really stood out to me was how exceptionally clean everything was and, on our return on the first day it was clear that the housekeeping was really exceptional. Not only was our room clean and restocked but all of our first-night mess had been tidied and organized in a way I haven't experienced in many 5-star luxury hotels. Breakfast was simple but, oh that French bread! Like we found everywhere in Douai, the staff were extremely pleasant and very appreciative of our rusty French. I tipped the housekeeper daily (around 3 Euro per day) and perhaps this isn't common so, if you want great service, leave a small tip - it seems to be very appreciated.
Good - in parts!

The hotel was modern & well presented - rooms very clean comfortable, except for the pillows on the bed. They were very small, hard and rubbery. I tried to get a drink from the bar, but they did not have any Vodka, or indeed any other spirit apart from whisky, which I don't drink. I asked if I could eat - yes, here is the menu. I headed towards the restaurant area but was told by the lady at reception that it would be served in my room! I selected my choices & went back to my room. When the food arrived, it was very disappointing. The food was effectively a "ready meal" - bought in & reheated in the microwaved. It was served in the original glass containers & was really not good. There did not appear to be any restaurants within walking distance. Maybe the hotel could provide a leaflet showing restaurants in the vicinity & show what types of food they serve?
Quick clean convenient stay

My parents and I stayed one night in may after a trip to see some of the Canadian war sites. The room was clean and simple. Parking was easy on site. We paid for breakfast which was pretty basic but easy to eat before hitting the road again. I would recommend if just spending a night in the area as it was great value. One thing to note. We originally were assigned a room one floor up. I didn't realize they didn't have an elevator. As my mom has limited mobility this was not going to work. The lady at the front desk was nice and switched us to a room on the main floor. Just a watch out though for those with mobility issues to ask for a room on the main floor.

Stopped over night on the way to Calais, room comfy and good size. Bathroom ok, little bit tired but usable. Very noisy, paper thin walls though so if you have any neighbours talking or watching tele you can here. Didn't have breakfast as up early. Reception didn't open until 8 and not the most helpful but good for what we needed.
