Nice little halfway house.

Situated halfway between Bristol and Bath this was an ideal booking for us to do our site seeing and activities in the local area. The exterior of the building is lovely.
The bed was very comfortable, although every movement seemed to make the floorboards creek which got a little annoying. The bath room door was also very noisy as was the shower. The bath is the wrong way round so trying to stand under the low shower head was a bit of a pain. Other than that the room was fine. The view over to breacon was beautiful. You can't hear the noisy road at night when the window is shut and the blind made the room nearly pitch black.
Breakfast was nice and the lady serving was very polite. Laura was very helpful and approachable when we needed something extra.
All in all was a successful stay for us.
Lovely stay full of charcter

Had a lovely stay at Toghill House Farm with my boyfriend and our puppy. Laura and her gorgeous family were so accommodating - we felt very at home. The property was beautiful and it was great to wander around the working farm where you can see all of the animals and countryside scenery. Well located only a 15 min drive from bath and plenty of nice pubs nearby. Highly recommend!
Not quite what we were expecting

Let me start off by saying that Laura was very accommodating and a really kind lady, she was willing to switch our room at short notice, due to our change in circumstances - to which i thank her for x
BUT.... i feel its important to address a few issues we found......
The B and B itself is in a lovely building, full of character and although near a busy road, we did not hear any traffic. We were greeted upon arrival by Laura and a very active little girl.
We had the attic room - very quirky!! i loved the way the space had been utilised and best of all, we had our own private stairway up to it. It was our own little space where no one could walk past our room - heaven!!!. It was really done out nicely, the bed was really comfortable, best nights sleep ive had in ages!. Having sung its praises, there are a couple of negatives im afraid...... Bathroom; there is a huge, stand-alone roll top bath, in fact, so deep, that i struggled to climb into it and certainly wouldnt risk sitting down for a bath. So that only left the option of a shower (which sadly i couldnt do either) - the bath has a shower attachment... but no screen, so impossible to have a shower, as would mean soaking the room. Hopefully they can get this rectified in the near future.
The other negative point about our room was - the attic window looks onto their back garden, which has a swing (that is in desperate need of oiling!!) and varies playground type equipment.... but makes relaxing in the room absolutely impossible with all the noise this created (from shouting, to screaming and crying). Its not what i expected at all! So just be aware of this, if choosing this room.
Breakfast time was hit and miss. The cooked breakfast was lovely, but once served, on our first day, no one came back to ask if we wanted anything else (we did - more toast), in the end we gave up waiting and went back to our room.
The other thing we both felt was an annoyance, again, at breakfast time, was the fact that Laura's daughter was permitted to follow her around the dining room on what can only be described as some sort of Hopper! It thumped noisely against the floor after every movement - not what you want to start your day listening to!... 'thump! thump! thump! . Something that could of been avoided.
Even on the morning when we went to check out, the hallway was covered in leaflets that the little girl had emptied out all over the floor!.
I have nothing against children, but when we choose a break away in the countryside, we go for the relaxation and on this occasion, due to the incidences i have described above, we did not get that.
Personally, if it was me, i would mention on the website that there is a young family here and you will be subjected to noise as a consequence. Then, at least, people will know what to expect.

Stayed overnight on a recent road trip with my Fiancée and our 2 dogs. Absolutely loved the place. We had a lovely room with a four poster bed and an en suite. Lovely views and walks around the property. Free parking on site and the best fry up in the morning for breakfast. Definitely recommended, very chilled and relaxed and so close to bath, cheddar gorge etc. You will not be disappointed.

We had an excellent stay at Toghill House Farm and it was brilliant. The owner is so welcoming, a great place for a family stay.
We booked a family room and it had a separate bedroom for the children which was great.
