The house was perfect. Lots of room, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. We could walk anywhere in the resort in a couple minutes. Great location too. We didn't have to drive all the way out to Key West. Definitely go see the dolphins at the resort. We did the half hour interactive session, and it was incredible. They teach you signals so you can instruct the dolphins to do tricks and you can pet them. Then afterwards they emailed us a bunch of great pictures for free!
Best vacation EVER
My husband and I just took our 6 kids ages 18-3 here for a week and had the absolute best time ever. The staff here is fun and kind. Rooms are clean and spacious. I can’t wait to bring my family again!!
2 weeks at Hawk’s Cay
So I’m just ending my two week stay at Hawk’s Cay Resort and it was a great vacation. We had a house in the Sanctuary with a private pool #7209. The house was okay, definitely not the standard I would think would come with a 16k bill (that is for the house alone) it is missing lights, broken floor tiles, has broken furniture, dirty walls and a very lightly stocked kitchen. You could absolutely not cook a meal in the house if you needed to! And because of covid the lack of cleaning service is awful. I’ve had to run down the cleaning crews on their golf carts to ask for toilet paper, trash bags and towels. It’s not as up scale as I would like. But there are definite great things about the resort. The pool & lagoon service staff is wonderful 🙌🏼 the two guys we had throughout our stay were above & beyond great! They work their butts off in hot temperatures with masks on and made our day’s at the pool/lagoon wonderful. Hawk’s Cay’s restaurants are big time lacking. We are one time at Angler & Ale’s and left the resort for every other dinner. After looking at all the resorts in the Keys Hawk’s Cay is definitely the more upscale resort in the area.
Really bad customer service experience
I went for a get away trip with my family and since the minute that we arrived to the hotel, we started to notice the coolness from the employees. eating at the Tiki restaurant was challenging, the waitress would treated you like they were doing you a favor, our baby had an incident the first night and the following morning I requested to please replace our bed sheet, they told us to give them the room number that they were going to take care of it. later in the afternoon we came back to the room to get ready for diner and we noticed that the room was not ready yet. I asked my wife to go back to the front desk and remind them about replacing the bed sheets and then front desk employee Shazel Gallimore told my wife that she would have to make an special request and then change the bed sheet herself. I couldn't believe it when my wife told me that, minutes later I went back to the Ms. Gallimore and she repeated the answer that she gave my wife earlier and add it that if I choose to leave that I wasn't going to be reimburse for the night due to was past 3pm. I replied to her that they could keep the money but that they will never see me there again or receive any referral. If you are planning on going there just be aware ( you are not going to receive a good service ).
Wish I could rate it higher
My family and another family of 4 stayed at Hawks Cay in June 2020. We knew there might be a few kinks to work out because they had just opened 2 weeks earlier due to the pandemic. We arrived on Sunday evening at around 5:30. Our check in time was at 4 PM but we did a few things in Islamarado and figured this would give them plenty of time to have our villa ready. WRONG! First off, we had to wait around 45 minutes in line to even check in. When we finally got to the reservation desk our villa wasn't ready and they really couldn't tell us when it would be ready. So, we decided to go to dinner and wait for their call. We didn't receive a call so we tried calling them. Finally, our room was ready around 7:30. (Side note: the reservationist said they did call but I didn't answer. No call showed up on my phone and they couldn't leave a message??) We get to our villa and there are approx 5 towels for 7 people. Not gonna work. Three light bulbs were out, as well. So we call and they will be right over with towels. The next morning we still don't have towels. So, I go talk to the front desk about it and they offer me a $100 meal voucher for my trouble. (We paid over $500 for our room that we got 4 hours in and $!00 voucher is supposed to suffice?) Our villa has a small pool but no skimmer to scoop the leaves out. One day we couldn't even use it because an iguana pooped in it. Pool guy came the day after the iguana incident. The maintenance ppl came about 3 days after we reported the light bulbs being out (had to call 3 times on that). Did finally get a few more towels a couple of days after requested. The resort itself is amazing. The pools were great, the salt water lagoon was great for kayaking and SUP and just hanging out. We used our voucher for pizza at the Marketplace and it was very tasty. We got drinks at the TIki Bar and also had some food from there. We stayed in the Sanctuary Village #7223. It was comfortable but the logistics were kind of odd. I think it was originally supposed to be a 2 bedroom and they converted an office room downstairs into a 3rd bedroom. There wasn't a closet in that room. Plus, both full bathrooms were upstairs so that was pretty inconvenient for the couple staying downstairs. The master bedroom and bathroom was very nice. So, would I stay here again? I think so. I just wish they would've tried harder to correct the issues so we would've felt we got our money's worth. We probably dropped over $4500 there and we couldn't even get the correct number of towels. They sent me a survey to take and I voiced my concerns but a couple of days later I got an email to vote for their property for an award so I'm thinking my survey probably didn't get read.
