Stayed here last year on our anniversary, it disappointed me then too, on a few things. However, myself and my husband took my mum to North Queensferry today for a wander, and looked for somewhere to go for a coffee. Not a lot of choice at 3pm so thought we’d go here. Bad choice! Asked for coffee’s, hot water for mum, and cakes/biscuits/scone? Waitress came back, no cakes/biscuits/scones! Although there were 4 people having afternoon tea in the same area! She said a biscuit comes with coffee. So ordered drinks anyway. It was a small piece of shortbread you’d get in a hotel room. Why does a hotel, that size not have any cakes/biscuits or scones?!?!?!
We waited 25 minutes and still no drinks! 4 people opposite us, who came in after us, got their’s. Lots of staff wandering around looking busy, so it wasn’t a lack of staff. I went to the bar and said we’ve been waiting 25 minutes for our drinks. A waiter and someone who looked like management and was making coffee said, yes we had a big order first, yours is getting ready now! I said, a big order, as in the 4 people who came in after us, and have theirs?! The reply was “we only have one coffee machine!!! No apology, nothing! Drinks came 5 mins later and just as I thought! No hot water for mum!! So had to ask again!! Infuriating!! We got married in this hotel 27 years ago, when it was Queensferry Lodge! Oh boy! I wish it was still that! Horrendous service!!!
Beautiful views; friendly staff; spotless room

The best hotel in Edinburgh

Stayed one night with a group of colleagues, what can I say, the hotel is absolutely amazing. We got checked in by a lovely and friendly lady, the nice touch a warm chocolate cookie and bottle water in arrival, you don’t get that at many hotel. We get to our rooms and what a surprise, the room was spotless, clean, but mostly it was huge and and amazingly furnished. The pictures can show you how nice the rooms are, the bathroom style is amazing, massive walk-in shower, heated mirror and the grey tiles make it so modern and elegant. We had dinner in the hotel, that was another amazingly positive surprise, I really recommend you have the Kraken Mai Tai, we had an amazing view of the bridge. We were very hungry and we all ordered three courses and the portions certainly did not disappoint, every single dish was carefully prepared and the presentation was impeccable. I ordered the white crab salad, the 24hr slow cooked BBQ brisket and the passion fruit parfait, I was absolutely stunned, we accompanied the mail with some delicious cocktails and a bottle of Rioja, and I have to say, this was the best meal I’ve ever had in a long time. All the staff were amazing!
The DoubleTree Queensferry is a hidden gem located just outside Edinburgh but easily accessible and I will recommend it to everyone, the hotel is located in between the two bridges which gives you access to the motorway by car or direct bus transport to Edinburgh city centre, literally the bus stop is 20 meters from the hotel. I will definitely come back!
3rd stay - consistently excellent!

I’ve stayed here three or four times now.
The team here are brilliant; super friendly, helpful and welcoming. A special mention to Pauline on the front desk who adds so much value to the guest experience.
Rooms are large, comfortable and well appointed.
Prices at the hotel bar are reasonable and there are some great views to be had. Bar staff are super friendly and polite.
Breakfast is good with decent hot options and the usual cereal, hot drinks, cold drinks etc.
The suites here are nice too - if you’re lucky enough to grab one!
It’s encouraging to see this level of consistency in terms of guest experience and quality across each of my visits.
I look forward to my next visit.
