DO NOT DISTURB
Due to COVID-19 we limit our travel and interaction. We were here for 3 days Dec 18 leaving on 21. We were told no maid service unless requested which was great due to precautions. We immediately put our DO NOT DISTURB signage on the door as we got to our room as usual.👨🏾🏭👩🔬We sanitized EVERYTHING and EVERY SURFACE in the room. Even though it was very clean. 😡😡During our stay maintenance came into our room while we were GONE, disregarding our🚨DO NOT DISTURB🚨sign on door😡😡. To change a🤬filter. That's something that could have waited. I worked as a maintenance engineer for Hilton in Va Beach for years, and a filter is something that can wait until the guest check out. My other issue is that he's going from room to room changing filters. I don't know what contagions he's bringing into our room. He left a note on the TV saying Kennie from maint. came in. to change filter. Furthermore, we have been the victim of hotel thefts in the past, thats why we use🚨DO NOT DISTURB🚨 signage on door. My suitcase didn't look the same as I left it on the sofa, however the filter is in the bedroom🤔. Either the staff has not been trained correctly or they have a total disregard for customers privacy or attempting theft. I have not completely inventoried our things being we just got back home. Also we are now 👨⚕️👩⚕️monitoring our health as a precaution. I did speak to front desk about this egregious issue. 😶She apologized and comp a day and suppose to return all our points used. I did ask to speak to GM who I was told is Scott Comer who was not present. She left him a message about the situation that morning. As of today we have not heard from Mr. Comer. The room was ok. The toilet unfortunately reminded me of those in 1st grade in the classroom. A little over 12in from the floor. If you got bad knees, you will need help getting up. The bed was not comfortable. We both woke up with back pain. Being we exclusively use Hilton brands I was very disappointed. Usually staying at a Hilton brand the🛏bed is the best experience. Only at Hilton do I drool when I sleep in their beds to the point I tried to duplicate the experience at home to no avail. I slept in the chair after the first night for the rest of my stay. We had a King Suite room. All the furniture seemed to sit very low to the ground. Being I'm 5"10', it was low for me. The room was very very clean. Breakfast was delicious. One of the best breakfast I've had from Hilton brands(chicken and biscuits). The property was in a great location and everything looked very pristine. All the staff I encountered was pleasant and helpful.
The Staff Shines
We stayed here for 7 nights pre and post-surgery at Duke Medical. We had a disability accessible room in the first floor with a roll in shower. The hotel was comfortable. What stands out for me about our stay is the staff— particularly the front desk reception employees, Richard and Ricky. They were very helpful to me. The hotel has a laundry. Since it was COVID times, there was no evening food reception and breakfast was not really much (muffin and granola bar). There was no regular housekeeping but when requested our room would be cleaned. I think this hotel works out nicely for people being treated at Duke since it is close to many of the doctors offices and relatively close to the medical center. There are a variety of restaurants nearby.
Good stay in Jan. 2020
Clean. Nice room/suite with kitchen. OK service. Breakfast buffet was pretty good. Convenient location in Durham near Chapel Hills and near I-40 between University of North Carolina and Duke University. Eating establishments near by. I would stay here again.
Great people
We chose Homewood Suites while our floors were being repaired. All the employees from the front desk, to the housekeeper staff and the kitchen staff were always friendly. We were there while the Covid-19 was really starting to impact NC. They could have been grumpy or rude but stayed friendly. The suite was nice and very clean. Well equipped to make meals there. I highly recommend Homewood Suites!!
Like Home
I have had several stays this month alone. All of the staff is very friendly and helpful from the front desk to the kitchen as well as the maids and the shuttle driver. The hotel and rooms are always very clean and the breakfast and the dinner that served is the afternoon is amazing. Everyone is always so willing to help from Ibrahim, Megan,Travis, Whitney,Sharon, all at the front desk to the kitchen Jasmine, Katina, and I can't forget about Daisy and Brandon Fred. They try there very best to make this a home away from home. When traveling to Durham for my husband while been seeing at Duke University our family will never stay any where else. Linda Sims
