Eagle Nest Lake Guided Fishing Trip

Avaliou em 6 de setembro de 2022

While we didn't stay at the lodge, we enjoyed a guided fishing trip on the lake with Eric as our guide. He was awesome! My son recently turned 14 and the one thing he asked for was to go fishing and "actually catching fish" this time. ;) Anyways, we spent 4 hours on the lake on Labor Day and my son caught his first trout within 2 minutes of having his line in the water. The boat had plenty of room with two adults and one teen, but would have fit 6-8 comfortably. Eric had plenty of rods, reels, and bait all ready to go for either trout or northern pike (the only two we fished for). The boat and gear were in solid condition. Eric knew the history behind the lake, the dam, neighboring properties, nearby streams, and game hunting. You can tell he is doing what he loves! We will be back and probably will bring a few more family and friends next time.

Guided fishing trip

These guys have a crappy attitude. I wanted to try a guided fly fishing trip as a weekend trip from South Texas and made my reservation. When I called the day before heading there to ask if the monsoon weather would dampen my experience in any way, the owner Tim became condescending and wouldn't even allow me to express my concerns. Don't waste your money with this outfit. There are plenty of other guides in that part of NM that won't give you an attitude. I guess they don't want the business.

Great place to stay

We stayed here on short notice and were satisfied with our experience. After we reserved our room, we were able to walk right in which was great since we were exhausted. Unfortunately we were off the next day and were unable to take advantage of the fly shop and fishing guides. I can however safely say that I found the guides very friendly and courteous when I spoke to them in passing. The room was spacious and welcoming. It was what you might expect from a fly fishing lodge, not too fancy, but not spartan either. Our room was reasonably priced and came with a microwave, Keurig coffee maker, mini fridge, giant TV, and speedy WiFi. Our room was amply supplied with sundries and towels. The view from our room though, was absolutely stellar. We would stay here again without hesitation.

Best fishing experience, guide and stay

Eric is an excellent fishing guide. We caught so many amazing fish. He even cleaned the ones we kept! His knowledge of the areas history was amazing. He is so patient and kind. We stayed in their cabins. They are nice and clean. Mattress slept well. We will be back. Photo is the view out the window of our cabin

Worth Going Out of Your Way to Stay Here!

Spent one night here on a business trip. Very clean and comfortable room. The chairs outside the room are great for relaxing and taking in the scenery. There is also a fire pit for the guests to use. Reasonable rates and friendly owners....you will not be disappointed staying here!
