Best hotel of our trip!
Avaliou em 1 de Fevereiro de 2021
We had been in Antigua for business and had moved around the island during the 2 weeks of our stay. Copper & Lumber was by far the best hotel for quality of room and value for money.
Gillian who was our main point of contact during our stay was fabulous, as was Brenda and Cornelius ( I hope I got that right!) All of the reception staff were super efficient, booking our covid test when it was out of hours and where also very friendly. We stayed for 5 night. The first room we had was called Hardy - a large split level room, with small kitchenette, large living area on one floor with tons of storage, a bathroom on the half landing and a large bedroom with vaulted ceiling on the top floor, far more space than we actually needed, and although lovely it was VERY dark with no view. After we decided to stay for a little longer I requested to be moved to a room with more light and a bit of a view , we were given a room called Brittania , all one level, again with a kitchenette, sofa, dining table and incredible views over the super yachts, perfect .It also had a great bathroom with a recently renovated shower stall, lots of lovely dark wood, which made you feel you were on a boat. The bed was comfy , little soft for my personal preference and did creak a lot when you turned over at night. The rooms are traditionally furnished with dark wood furniture, maritime themed pictures with classical soft furnishings, as you would expect from a hotel of this age, everything was very tasteful.
We didn't eat in the hotel, but breakfast was included and is served on the terrace overlooking the yachts.
We thought that were some missed oppertunities for additional income and would have loved to have seen traditional afternoon tea served on the lawn, something that is very popular on other Caribbean islands and would have fitted the hotel and its setting, as well as bringing in additional revenue.
The hotel is situated in Nelsons Dock Yard, A UNESCO World heritage site, the buildings within the dockyard are all spectacular, steeped in history. It is a short walk to a few bars and a small supermarket and about a 7 minute walk into English Harbour which has a larger selection of restaurants and bars.
We stayed in 5 hotels during our time in Antigua and this was by far the best for quality, service, location and value.
Thank you to all the lovely staff at this super hotel, your boss should be proud of you!
Beautiful Place, Even Better Staff

I just can't say enough about the warmth of the staff at this place. We were welcomed by Gilli (sorry if misspelled) and throughout our stay she made us feel like family. We really felt liked she cared about us and our happiness. She and all the rest of the team there were absolutely wonderful.
The place itself is gorgeous and it so cool to be in such a historic building. We had the 2-level suite which was wonderful as my mom and I could be on separate levels (which would also be great for families). The wood floor and all the finishing touches were exceptional. It also had an amazing range of tv channels (of course you don't come to Antigua to watch TV but when you can catch your football team playing in the playoffs on one of their channels, it is a big bonus!).
I highly recommend this hotel, and would like to say a special thanks to all the staff there.

This is situated in Nelson’s dockyard which is worth a visit in itself. We had a lovely lunch here. Good food, good service and in a wonderful location. Definitely would recommend if you’re in the area.

We went to stay in the Copper and Lumber after a few nights staying with family on a boat in English Harbour. The rooms are lovely - lots and lots of space - and the historic building is beautifully renovated. The staff were lovely, warm and accommodating - we enjoyed it so much we went back for a second night. English Harbour is a great base and there’s plenty of cafes, shops, bakeries and restaurants within walking distance. The museum is also next door. Highly recommend.
Loved our stay!

We loved sleeping in the historic Copper and Lumber Store. This is part of the National Park and it met all of our expectations. It was clean, spacious, comfortable, and best of all...historic. We were able to walk everywhere and breakfast was included in the price.
