We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Brentwood. That week was especially tough with the loss of a family member but the hotel staff kept us comfortable and happy. We got to visit as cousins who haven’t seen each other for 10 years in the lobby and the front desk lady was very kind and helpful. Definitely would stay here again.
New Year’s Eve catastrophe

No hot water for 2 days. Cold food for breakfast. McDonalds only food choice for breakfast. Maintenance came to room and explained boiler had been broken for 1.5 years causing no hot water for that part of the hotel
No sleeping with poorly maintained smoke detector

Checked in on a Saturday to a room that was a little less than $300. The room appeared adequate, clean with no apparent problems. Went to bed and fell asleep that night to be awakened at about 2:30am to the sound of a beeping smoke detector. A little too late to call for maintenance so I stuck my head under the pillow and tried to sleep. the next day on my way out I mentioned the problem knowing that there should be maintenance there that day. Upon my return I had an hour or before I had to leave and though I could catch a couple of winks. entered the room to the beeping smoke detector. The story continues with many more disappointments. Upon leaving the next day I requested a refund for the sleepless Saturday night. Again more communication hassles until finally I was told the the manager that because I did not call at 2:30am when the detector went off that I was not entitled to any compensation. What I hear them saying is that it's my fault they can't maintain the equipment properly. this is really not the service I had come to expect from a Hilton owned property.

When I called the day before my reservation to see if we could get an early checkin, I was told to call back at 9:30 on the day of checkin. I did call back and was told that the hotel had been fully booked and there were no early checkouts, so come in at 3:00 to check in. We waited until 3:00 and came in to get our room. The front desk clerk told us that no rooms were ready until 4 - which was there minimum checkin time. I explained what we had been told, and she said "nothing I can do about that" and to wait until 4:00 which we did.

Customer service made me feel unwelcome. No one at the front desk was able to handle a problem or lead me to someone with authority who could have resolved the issue. I was interrupted several times during my stay.
