A cozinha é bem bacana.
A Disappointing Trip
As a repeat visitor to Gullwing, I initially had very high hopes for our stay. Immediately I felt like the staff was very unwelcoming and not accommodating at the front desk. We stepped into our first room and there was a long stain of bleach that appeared to be some type of cover-up for a large red spill. We immediately had to ask to switch rooms. The staff did not upgrade us and I was surprised by this because we had received a free upgrade during our last stay. I thought this would have been a nice gesture for the inconvenience we had experienced. I had gotten in touch with Vanessa and Sandra (with whom I had booked our trip) in the first few days because I was so disappointed. They have been nothing but kind and helpful to me during multiple calls. They assured me the manager Haley would get in touch with me but I never heard from her. One of the elevators was broken during both of our stays (which were 12 months apart). The ice machine was broken. We were asked to get ice from the staff next store to the Gullwing. The rooms were not clean. The wifi connection was not strong. The appliances are in bad shape - the inside of our dishwasher was rusting. The unit was severely lacking in kitchen utensils. My son and daughter came to visit for a few days during our week-long stay and they refused to provide them with parking passes when there were ample parking spots. They had asked that they park down the road at another location. Luckily some very friendly guests helped us get some extra passes. The pool had not been cleaned. We were locked out of our room for over an hour before we had heard back from anybody that was able to help us.
Beach Condo
Stayed 4 days/ 3 nights with our kids (3 & 7) and decided on GullWing based on pool & beach location. Hotel, which is a sort of condo conversion sits directly on beach will easy access. On Friday & Saturday afternoon/evening the pool area a bit busy But we found empty chairs. We were able to go from the beach to the pool easily. I recommend you bring your own beach chairs/umbrellas from home as we rented chairs from the 3rd party vendor that was pricy. Beach/pool towels are in each condo. We had the 2 bedroom 2 bathroom and it was very spacious and decor was updated. There was also a pull-out sleeper sofa that the kids loved. The screened in balcony overlooks the side of the building but has a good partial view of the beach and the opposite side you can see the beautiful lagoon (Estero Bay Aquatic Preserve). It also has a jacuzzi style tub in the master that I enjoyed one night. Pool area also has several barbecue grills. Overall the hotel room and grounds we clean and staff were friendly. From the outside the hotel looks of old florida condo but the inside is clean and updated. I would recommend and comeback. We used the kitchen and it had enough cookware and dishes for our family of 4 as we ate in for breakfast n lunch. My wife tried instacart that delivered groceries to the room within an hour and we ordered delivery from Local restaurants without any issues. The only problem we had was the building to the north is under construction and they are jackhammering from 8am to 5pm each and every day. It made out north facing balcony impossible to use. It can be heard from the pool area as well. I recommend rooms on the south side (odd number room) as the north facing rooms are even numbered.
Great Memories... but all good things must come to an end.
We have been regulars at GullWing for quite some time. We use to own a condo adjacent to GullWing, Pointe Estero, and was actually happier with how quiet and updated it was compared to Pointe Estero. Unfortunately, this seems to be wearing off. My wife and our son stayed for 10 days this past week arriving on a Friday. I'd preface that for starters, the front desk staff is very nice and always a great group. We got to our room where it is always clean. A few soft spots are that the outlets were not functioning in certain spots, the WIFI was really slow, appliances have seen better days and kitchen utensils were also a little worn out. These are small things in my book compared to some larger issues. I will mention that my wife and I have considered purchasing a unit at GullWing. Unfortunately, this will not be the case anymore. A message to the individual owners in that the clientele coming into these units are often times bringing more than the maximum allowed while bringing their pets as well. Pets are not allowed on the property and over the course of two weekends, I saw multiple families bringing their dogs to and from their rooms AND down to the pool. Which leads to my second complaint - the pool. I am all for people having a great time. During the two weekends we were there, many of the clientele come from the East coast of Florida to the Gulf to have a good time. A good time should not infringe upon others - to include loud music at the pool, hijacking of multiple tables and turning what is suppose to be a good experience for all to just a select few. The pool is not big to begin with - but when 25 people are standing and socializing without concern during a pandemic, it now becomes a public health issue. I would encourage the hotel limit the number of people coming from hot zones and to enforce strict rules around pool use. Lastly, is the late night noise. During both weekends there were many that had played loud music through the evening and early morning. I made an attempt to call security, but nobody had answered. I unfortunately had to tell (yell) to the people below us to turn down the music.... at 2:30AM. Here would be my recommendation to GullWing and its owners. Increase your prices and update your appliances and small touches. It's not a lot and yes, your occupancy rates may go down - however your revenues will offset some of the numbers of people that are likely expediting the wear and tear of the units. In addition, you'll attract a clientele that will pay a premium for a better experience. If GullWing can do better, I'm all ears. However now, we are back to square one in our search of a vacation property.
