I had a king size room on the first floor. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Several mentioned that it was a great breakfast and I decided to come here. I was here for meetings. The breakfast was not my thing. The eggs were overdone, the bacon was oozing with grease and sausages weren’t that appealing either. Decided to try the hash browns and they tasted like they had been stuffed for days in a drawer full of stinky socks. They tasted horrible. I decided to grab some toast and an orange juice. There was no fruit or oatmeal I could see. Anyway, there was a waffle maker machine but I didn’t feel like rich foods at this point. Some fruit even canned would be nice. What I didn’t like was how unprofessional the staff was. Upon checking in, the attendent saying out loud my room number, with several other people checking in behind me. I’m a woman by myself and would rather keep that info confidential. It never happens anywhere, I’ve been before. Housekeeping, coming to my door twice to come clean my room when I’m still there. It was 8:45 again that has never happened to me before. Maybe it’s just the way it is in Fredericton? It did ask me when I was checking in when I had planned on leaving...I had marked 10:00 am. Maybe they don’t read? Anyway, I’m not usually negative in my comments but I found this hotel very unprofessional.
Clean, well staffed and affordable
We were looking for a hotel at the last minute and this hotel was available. For the rate, it exceeded our expectations. It was clean, updated and comfortable. The morning breakfast was included and offered many options.
We travel to Fredericton several times per year and always try to stay here. With two kids, a regular double room doesn't work because someone needs to sleep on the floor. We always get the family suite with a king bed for us and two singles for the kids. Only had one mixup where we were "upgraded for free" to a king suite (GORGEOUS ROOM), but it didn't work for us because there was only a king bed and sleeper sofa. No good for two kids. We thanked the front desk and they put us back in our regular suite without hesitation. Breakfast is good here. Lots of variety - three hot items, cereal, fruit, all that you would expect.
One of my favorite places to stay
I'm just returning from 2 nights at the Quality inn in Fredericton. The room was soooo comfortable. It is well-appointed and clean. I would love to own that mattress and pillows-I slept very well. The TV is a good size and easy to figure out (channel 5 for the directory.) Breakfast was amazing. Eggs, hash browns, sausage (one day, bacon the next) beans etc. When visiting Fredericton I always check with this hotel's availability.
Quality It Is No Longer
I checked in January 10, 2020 in the afternoon. The organization to which I belong made the reservation and paid for my room in advance thru Expedia. When I arrived, I was asked for a credit card. Why would I need a credit card? The room was already paid. For incidentals I was told. I won't need incidentals, I told the lady at the front desk. I have stayed previously at the Amsterdam Inn and have not had this issue when it was not the Quality Inn. I was placed in Room 210. I had been awake since 4am so all I wanted to do was sleep. That wasn't going to happen because there was a sports team of kids staying on the 2nd floor as well. These young people and their chaperones and/or parents constantly yelled, screamed and were loud from 8pm until past 11pm with this yelling and slamming doors when I lost consciousness from lack of sleep. I heard another guest tell them to quiet down but they did not. I did not hear staff from the hotel tell them to quiet down after 10pm, which is hotel policy. The breakfast provided was good and was one of the rare highlights this stay. When I checked out I was not asked how my stay was with them. Maybe they already knew. I get that sports teams are profitable to the hotel but this should not come as a result of inconveniencing other hotel guest that have paid good money to stay as well, People should be able to sleep after 10pm. If I wanted to stay at a loud frat house, I hear UNB rents rooms. I expect to be able to sleep at a decent hour. Very disappointed with the Amsterdam Inn this visit and my score reflects this. Management needs to pull up their socks so ALL guest can have an enjoyable stay. If conditions don't improve, I would not stay there again or recommend any of my friends stay there.
