To be sure our gear got to the island before our Roatan Aggressor liveaboard set sail for the week, my dive buddy and I decided to arrive a day ahead of time and spend the night. Since Clarion Suites at Pineapple Villas seemed the only option anywhere near where out boat docked, we picked it -- and were pleasantly surprised. It did seem a bit odd that we had to choose between a double with one queen-size bed (or a bed and a cot) and a two-bedroom, two bath condo, but we settled on the latter. Once we checked in, we understood: This is a condo development, designed for family vacations and even favored by professionals and businesspeople who work on this part of the island. Our two-bedroom, two-bath condo was huge, with a full-size kitchen, a washer and dryer, even a dining room. (The one-bedroom option would have been a bedroom and bath in one of these condos, locked off and with its own private entrance.) Our balcony featured a sweeping sea view. The swimming pools were large and lovely. My friend got a great manicure and massage at the spa for half what she would have paid back home. The food was tasty, both at the bar/restaurant (Herby's) and at the breakfast cafe (Pineapple Grill). And the staff went out of their way to be helpful. With no beach, this might not be the best spot on the island for a full week, but we wished that we'd booked more than one night!
Shameful Business Practices

We stayed there for New Year’s Eve of 2020 from Dec 31-Jan 2. The hotel took our reservation without disclosing a security deposit requirement which they communicated until the moment we’re checking in. There requested a $200+ cash security deposit to ensure we didn’t “damage anything in the rooms”. We were on an instant and hotels were booked so we had to give in and leave the money in the counter. Then, our room keys weren’t working when coming back from the NYE dinner with two elders (69 and 89) and they didn’t have anyone at the counter. Therefore, we were locked out of our rooms for almost an hour at 1 AM until the hotel manager answered his phone, opened up and reprogrammed our keys. Totally irresponsible. And lastly, they sold us breakfast for Jan 1 morning and they disclosed their kitchen staff was on leave and there was no breakfast. Technically a scam. The person at the lobby suggested we could walk 2 blocks to a gas station were a restaurant was open 😂. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. They offered no refund and they simply stopped answering messages when we weren’t conceding to their no refund policy. We stayed here because of the apparent good reputation of the hotel but their unethical business practices, not to mention irresponsible, left us with a big disappointment.
Bad Customer Service

Spoke Maria Nelson who emailed quote for 1 possibly 2 night stay, sister was injured in cruise, and we needed to get flights booked back to Canada. When we checked in, Maria offered a better price then originally quote (have email proof) What we were charged was:
First Night was billed $139.83 US - $190.72 CDN
Second night was billed $431.48US - $588.48 CDN
This is absolute robbery, and being taken advantage of as a CDN citizen!
I have emailed & emailed on this, and seem to be getting no where.
UNFORGETTABLE Care during 2020 Corona Virus Crisis

I am still amazed at the incredible Honduran hosts during a recent stay at this fine resort while our SCUBA diving group was stranded awaiting US air carriers to get us home by orders during the corona virus outbreak.
Words cannot express the class, competence, compassion professionalism and dedication of this hotel's staff. Some things I'll never forget them doing for us during our stay under FAR less than agreeable circumstances:
1. Hotel pick-up from our dive boat when we learned American airlines wouldn't be sending a plane for us to honor their return flight booking obligations...
2. Although the resort was almost empty, they kept the Herby's grill open from 11AM to 6 PM to give us lunch and dinner service
3. Arranging special grocery buying and delivery service. How they kept orders PERFECTLY tallied for over 15 separate rooms (> 200 total items was amazing).
4. Shuttle service to the only grocery and fresh produce stands open on a Sunday.
5. Special airport shuttle service for two in our group to the airport to talk to agents in person over booking problems.
6. Final airport shuttle service to airport when we finally got departure flights.
In particular, Kaylon at Reception and Alberto the shuttle driver were EXCEPTIONAL--as was our housekeeper.
Unfortunately as I write this the resort is probably closing for duration of the virus outbreak--and these WONDERFUL staff face layoffs. I certainly will return under better circumstances and will NEVER forget their care to us as guests.
May God bless them ALL for being such good Samaritans...and that they return to work ASAP !!!
