Not for me
Though clean and reception helpful we found this park and the studio our travel organiser had arranged for us extremely basic. We were underwhelmed by decoration, restaurant quality, non-see through windows, missing reading light on both ends of bed and missing dividers between balconies, so no privacy. Probably one shouldn’t expect more given price. If your budget allows to spend more than €50 a night don’t hesitate to do so.
Simpel and Clean
Simple and old but clean, small family rooms but still 2 separate bedrooms including a minimalistic kitchen and a balcony with fantastic wiew of Etna. Nice staff. The pool was big and clean. Greate for families with limited budget, a car is a must, parking included in the price. 5min to the town or local beaches with car.
Great value - very relaxed
A family of four we stayed here for 10 days. It was our first self catering holiday abroad as a family. The check in was easy and we were let into the apartment about an hour early. The supermarket is around a ten minute walk away along one road so very easy. To walk into the nicer part of Giardini Naxos is around half an hour walk. We ate lunch on arrival in the bar which was expensive as expected. Coke etc is €2.50 for a 330ml bottle - ice cream in a basic cone is the same. The apartment we were in was 2 bedrooms. It was fine - I would mention that they don’t have a tea towel, cloths or anything else you may need to keep it clean yourself so you have to purchase those if you want it cleaned more than the once weekly. Towels are changed every three days. The rooms had remnants of previous guests - a small part of a necklace, dust balls etc. The balcony only had 2 chairs at the table which was annoying as a family of four. The kitchen area consisted of a 2 ring hob and sink. The pots and pans supplied won’t fit on both hob rings at the same time which is frustrating. All of the above sounds negative but I think some of it is to do with us not knowing what to expect. The pool was great. No one reserves sunbeds and you can rock up at any hour and get one. The pool stays open late and the whole atmosphere is very relaxed. The animation team are just here in July and August. They are friendly enough but only speak Italian. There is football, water polo and aqua gym as well as mini disco. You have to wear a swimming hat in the pool which you can buy for €2 at the bar. The place is a great base to explore the local area which we did via a weekly bus pass. Very locally we are at the restaurant at the top of the road but best deal has to go to Alfios pizza with three large pizzas for €15! Go back out to the main road and turn left. All in all a good stay. We had breakfast included which is continental and fine for what it is. Not sure I would pay €7 pp though as we don’t eat much for breakfast. A good base and enjoyable stay at Villaggio Alkantara.
Very loud music at night
The village seemed nice when we arrived. The swimming pool is nice and the checking in went smooth. However, when the animation people start the disco at 22.00h, often earlier, the music goes all the way up, and stops most times after 00.00h. They don't seem to care about the people who don't want to go to the disco. We asked if they could turn the volume down, but they told us that they want to give the people at the disco the full disco experience and won't turn the volume down. Guests from the other village next doors came by to tell them that they are bothered by the music. They managed to turn the volume down for one night, however, in their conversation the guy at the reception wanted to call the police if they didn't leave or would come back later. We won't suggest you to book this village if you seek a little silence at night. This was the first and only time at this village.
