Excellent Hotel & Customer Service....
Despite the Covid-19 chaos, we gambled with a last minute, inexpensive week long break to Sicily. Our requirements were fairly straightforward, a large pool, a good sized room for two adults and two teenagers, somewhere relatively close to both Traormnia and Syracuse and close to the Catania airport also. We selected Hotel Etna and paid £800 for a large single room with a double bed and two singles. On arrival, we felt immediately welcomed and this was primarily due to the warm greeting that we received from the enchanting Graziana and her big beaming smile. She was a sweetheart throughout the holiday and also enabled us to locate a local car rental service that then made it possibe to visit multiple other locations on the east coast of the island. The facility included a huge swimming pool and a large room with high ceilings and ornate windows. The wider complex also included many weathered Sicilian artifacts that gave the place a very rustic and authentic Italian feel. Approximately 5 minutes walk from the hotel is a large supermarket that we used to purchase our provisions including olives, baguettes, ham, cheese, milk etc. The hotel also includes an arrangement with a local restaurant that was so good we visited it twice that is something we rarely do on a vacation. The arrangement includes a free transfer to the restaurant and back afterwards. This meant I could have a drink with my meal and not worry about driving the family back to the hotel... perfect!!
Very good experience throughout
We arrived late at Hotel. Reception was open, adequate parking, restaurant was still open but we did not visit. We were shown into our room which was spotlessly clean, adequately stocked fridge with reasonably priced drinks, very well cooled room in spite of the extreme heat outside. Breakfast was extensive with wide choice of cut meats, fruits, cereals, sweets, beverages.... could n’t be better. Also checkout was fast. The following has nothing to do with the hotel itself. One thing marred our stay, i am mentioning this for visitors to avoid. Our GPS took us through a country lane which I suspect runs on top of the hotel. We have a big car and we went through a very rough passageway barely open to allow our car through with very rough terrain and fear that we will encounter a dead end. I know the hotel is in nearly a main road and if there is a next time will be very careful to avoid this way. We are frequent visitors to this area which is so beautiful.
Fantastic two weeks at Hotel Etna
As a family of four we had a fantastic two weeks in Hotel Etna. We used the hotel as a base for good trips around Sicily. During our stay we rented a family room, which is perfect for longer stays - a nice big room. The service and helpfulness at Hotel Etna is worth mentioning and high lighting - you really fell welcome. The staff supported on all issues like restaurant tips and booking of tours on Sicily. The hotel is very well maintained and clean, and we all enjoyed both the breakfast buffet and the pool area. However, I am glad that we had a car as the distance to a variety of restaurants and shopping could be a challenge with kids if a car is not present. Over all our warm recommendations for this place.
Sfeervol, vriendelijke ontvangst, verzorgd
Due to a delay at Schiphol Airport we arrived at 1.30 am. The owner was still awake and expecting us. He was full of sympathy en even offered us a bottle of wine from the house! We had never experienced that before and so we started with a very good feeling our three day stay. The delay was soon forgotten. And then the breakfast: splendid, both the food and the place to eat (outside). We wished each day of our live could start that way. Our room was fine and clean and the pool a good place to cool down a bit from the Sicilian sun. The 'lay out' of the hotel was great. Some historic buildings we think. Overall we recommend the Etna hotel. Go there!
