Last year we were in Sydney Australia, this year we were in Gioiosa Jonica Calabria for New Year Celebrations. Apart from fact we were with Family last year , 2018 N’eerday Celebrations were on a par with the warm welcome and fun we had on this special night . This B&B is unique , historical and beautiful, if your looking for modern clean lines this is not place for you. This Palazzo is being lovingly and sympathetically restored to a former era with some areas hundreds of years old. I loved the quirky layout of the building , we were given free reign of the whole Palazzo as we rented all rooms, this included a fantastic kitchen and three roof terraces. I love this old building in the historic centre of Gioiosa Ionica . The restaurant La Locanda connected to the B&B provided a fabulous meal before the midnight fireworks. I would highly recommend both the B&B and the restaurant,

Friendly and pittoresque

A very warm welcome & a refreshing friendly behavior from the employees during all the stay. No carpark and no sound proof, but lovely building with a rooftop terrace and a very cute restaurante only open for diner, with delicious food. For breakfast you get local fruits homemade cake, not much variety though.

When we finally arrived in this old city, which was difficult with the car, we ended up at the rear of the joint, pushed the bell to no answer, worked my way around to the front and found another bell, no answer again ,until the owner came from a worksite adjacent to the property,no English spoken at all no on site parking, ordered breakfast for 8.30 am,no one around come 8.30 do define where we eat, no breakfast consequently ,comes 9.15 I ask a contractor working next door does he know where the owner is, he rings ,they tell us a woman will be there in 15 minutes, we give her the cash and leave,the room was fine,that's about it ,they are also in the process of renovating, would I stay here again, no way Jose,, they need to get there act together.!

Un palazzo antico ristrutturato mantenendo pavimenti e dove possibile gli arredi originali, a pochi passi dalla piazza centrale di Gioiosa Ionica. Camera spaziosa, pulita, silenziosa, con una grande finestra sul cortile interno. Fresco e sempre ventilato. Bagno grande con doccia e finestra. Aria condizionata. Crostata e ciambellone fatti in casa e fichi appena colti dall'albero per colazione, ed ultimo ma non ultimo la Signora Maria! È lei che fa un po' tutto, che con la sua gentilezza ed il suo sorriso serve la colazione, ordina le stanze e risponde a qualsiasi richiesta! Grazie davvero, siamo stati benissimo!

Una notte molto lunga…

Avrei dovuto pernottare a Villa Mantegna ma sono stato dirottato alla loro succursale di Villa Santa Maria. Location splendida ma ancora in buona parte non preparata ad accogliere come si deve ospiti . Sarò stato poco fortunato, ma la mia camera era priva di condizionatore( solo un ventilatore), frigo bar desolatamente vuoto, no acqua calda e no shampoo per doccia, oltre che una cabina doccia per lillipuziani. Notte a 27 gradi, molto lunga… Se verranno adottate le dotazioni di base potrà diventare un’ottima base.
